Dana White will never be able to make Cain vs Jones

To be fair, GSP was ducking Silva and Silva was ducking Jones.

Not much the UFC can do there, lol.

When do champions vacate and move down a weight?

When it's almost been two years since they have defended. There is a new champ already Cain and dc should switch and shake up the divisions they are in

That's why we're waiting for Mayweather/Pacquiao for five years now.

well at least it has a chance of happening this year.

Unlike GSP and Silva... zero chance.

If Cain beats Werdum and Jones beats Gus/Rumble, then Cain vs Jones is definitely the fight to make.
Because after Werdum, Cain has no one left to fight, and same goes for Jones if he beats Gus/Rumble.

So the ideal scenario would be Jones vs Cain (in which I believe would be the greatest superfight ever, at least in paper, even greater than Fedor vs Crocop), however this fight will never happen.
Dana White is not capable of making superfights happen, he simply can not make them.

Both Cain and Jones will put a lot of conditions for this fight, and Dana will be unable to make both of them happy.

Fedor vs Couture
Fedor vs Lesnar
GSP vs Anderson
Anderson vs Jones
Rousey vs Cyborg

Some examples of super fights that never happened. Dana can not make super fights happen. The last super fight we had was GSP vs Bj Penn, 6 years ago.
Since then, he has done no one single super fight.

He is good at ranting and deciding who must retire, however he can not do his job in a good way. He is a very mediocre promoter actually.

For a organization that basically dominates the scene and have pretty much every elite fighter under contract, zuffa sure do have a hard time making mega/super fights.

DW and co couldn't even put Pettis and Aldo together. That be a super fun fight to watch. Even if injuries, can always set up the fight at another time...just seems they have such a hard time doing it.

Fedor didn't wanna sign with the UFC cause the money wasn't good. GSP was too smart. Anderson was too smart. Rousey is too smart, plus Cyborg can't make 135.

It wasn't because of the money lol. UFC offered him the highest purse ever to any fighter. It was due to M1's request for co-promotion.

cain is not a dominant champion as of yet. he has many fights waiting for him..... werdum, travis, hunt, barnett to name a few. at hw, these guys are a punch away from losing the title.

jones is a huge lhw and will eventually be outworked and ko'd.

The storyline is Cain is still side-lined with injuries...

... Werdum calls out Bones, Bones declines as he is waiting for "Gumble", winner of Gus/Rumble.

Gus/Rumble winner injures themselves training for Bones.

Bones vs. Werdum, Bones wins the decision

Cain returns and it is Velasquez vs. Bones to unify the heavyweight belt.

Avenge his coach or Bones GOAT, Cain on a mission.

If Jones wants the fight, Dana will make it happen. I don't know if Jones and the Jackson think tank would do that though.

If Jones continues to win he will move up to HW for the simple reason that people will stop paying for his fights. There are simply not enough contenders left at LHW for him to fight. There is no youth there that is on the come up that can even make it past the gatekeepers of Gus, AJ, Glover, and DC if he stays.

Assuming Gus beats AJ (which he will) then you've got a great rematch there, but after that there is nothing. No one is going to pay to watch him fight Phil or Johnson (after Gus beats him), or rematches with guys he's already destroyed.

Jones is simply too good for LHW and he may be too good for HW, but at least he'll get another 2 years worth of headlining big cards at HW because people will have some belief that his fights will be interesting. Besides that, Jones wants to be far and away the best. If he were to move up and conquer HW it would pretty much be unquestionable that he is the best the sport as ever seen and a feat likely to not be matched for a very, very long time.

Outside of Werdum, I don't see any of those guys generating any interest from fans at this point. If one of those guys were to beat JDS, then there might be some interest, but JDS stock fell in that close win over Miocic. The UFC will keep putting guys in there to fight for the belt, but Zuffa would love Jones vs. Cain.

He has been injured for a while now, I cant see Cain making 205 lol

the problem is Jones is the potential GOAT while Cain has only defended the title twice.

Twice against people he already beat and there is already only 1 legitimate challenger left.

All while Jones is breaking records, kicking ass and taking names againt legitimate contenders.

For Cain, yes this is absolutely the fight to make because half the top 10 is retiring soon, guys like Barnett who are still ranked probably never coming back and almost certainly not ever challenging for the title again.

But Jones doesn't need Cain, beating him obviously would elevate him but he can solidify his legacy at 205 with no problems whatsoever.

Lol @ Cain has no one to fight when he only faced 2 people as champ.

Cain might not be as dominant as JJ at this point but other then Werdum and Barnett there is no one else who I think will fare decently against him in the octagon.

Do u really believe Hunt or Brown have chance against him. I love Mark but he has no business fighting the champ. He'd get taken down and elbowed. Same goes for Brown. Even though both of them stand a chance at doing what JDS did their first fight. Plus it is exactly bacause of JDS who stands in their way JDS will get in the way of having a title shot in the first place

Well, tbh I have to agree that Dana and the UFC are not that good at making the superfights happen. And basically it boils down to greed.

Both Cain and Bones would be wanting north of 5 million to do that fight. Maybe even North of $10 million. And rightfully so. The UFC is too greedy to pay them both. They much prefer the model where there is a challenger getting basically none of the PPV $, a champion getting a tiny sliver of it, and the UFC getting the most of it.

Even if they give Cormier a Kings ransom of a bonus, he will have just made around $500 K to be the main event on a PPV card that did probably 750K views, grossing north of $40 million. And Jones made maybe a couple million with the PPV bonus. That's Highway Robbery.
