Come on, people. If rumors are true, them it's Dana's sorry ass fault we didn't see Andy/GSP. Dude got butthurt over Silva/Maia fight and put the thing off despite GSP being ready to call Silva out there.

And Dana isn't a guy who let this kind of rumor persist if there's not a bit of truth in it.
 
Dana had nothing to do with Penn/GSP 2. It was all Penn not giving a fuck and wanting to fight the best. That is why that fight happened.

Fedor didn't wanna sign with the UFC cause the money wasn't good. GSP was too smart. Anderson was too smart. Rousey is too smart, plus Cyborg can't make 135.
 
For a proper champ vs champ superfight, you need an ambitious champion with poor skills at career managing, like BJ Penn. Jones has ambition, but he's smart and strategic about his career. I'm not sure we will ever see this.

I feel Greg Jackson will never let it happen(unless Cain has something happen which diminishes his abilities), despite the fact that Jones is already a HW....Cormier looked like a MW fighting him.

After seeing what Alexander did too Jones, I would favor Stipe to beat him. Great boxing, great lateral movement, long reach & heavier hands. Really any of the top 5 won't be intimidated by Jones.

If Greg Jackson felt Jones had a solid chance to take the HW title, he *would* be fighting other HWs. But he knows Jones getting mauled would shut down the hype they got going. Why mess with a good thing. If Anderson had went & got destroyed by top LHW(TUF contestants & retirees don't) , he wouldn't have the legacy he did now. Fighters that are obsessed with being undefeated & having legacies, hype etc, don't take fights that seem losable, unless they are forced to(Anderson nor his management wanted to fight Chris either time...this is on video repeatedly).
 
Cain must fight JDS 8 more times before any other opponents can be lined up.

Yeah, the ball is in Baldfather's court. He made some claims about how much money he was offering Fedor. So now he can offer a smilar enormous sum to Jones to fight Velasquez.

They pay him to run a business. To provide the highest return on investment. That is what he is doing.

Go back to the WWE or play the video game to see all of your dream match ups where the actual combatants, in real life, prefer to manage their own careers differently.

Jones is the bigger star at this point.
It will be a difficult compromise.

One guy sets terms. The other won't accept them cause it means less money for him.

End of the day the fight will never Happen.
 
Honestly, this is the type of fight that should be self promoted. Jones vs Velasquez at heavyweight, self promoted on HBO, where they keep the most of the profits themselves. Jones and Velasquez should discuss this amongst themselves and not resign with the UFC once their contract is up, and then put this fight together.

You don't want either guy losing. their stock drops. They still have some fights at their own division.

In about a year sounds right.

Jones - Cain 2016.just hope Cain can stay healthy from now.
