Dana White: Tonight's PPV is trending higher than 189

If you look around Twitter and think this fight didn't do a million buys. You are a fool.

Nobody mentions Nickelback or Kid Rock on Twitter if it wasn't to bash them, yet they continue to tour successfully. See what I did there?

Damn i hope not. This was one of the worst cards ive seen in a long while. Having fucking gadelhia open was the perfect way to suck the life out of a card from the beginning.

Wut? That was one of the best fights on the card. They should have put it later on the card to build anticipation for the main event.

Oh Dana. Anyone else hear that 2.5 mil for Cyborg?

Just like 189 was gonna crush 100.

Trending doesn't necessarily mean buys, it's just that, trending. It's just an indicator. Dana waits on the information from cable companies like sources do.

Also, if this did even comparable numbers to the Zingano fight then this card was a massive success. Rousey seems to have a skill for taking otherwise dead cards and breathing life into them.

This is true, but he specifically said 189 was going to do more buys than 100. Just pointing out that in recent years his promotion mode has gotten out of control. Just like when we had like 7 p4p kings in a year.

I suspect it will though. Rousey's promotion/spotlight has gotten massive in recent months on a far wider scale, beyond just the UFC.

I work for Directv and this didn't feel like a million buy card. It did 600K+ because it was busy, but 189 got busy from 7pm. The marketing did work on a lot. I was talking to a guy who thought it would be her toughest fight and all that because she's undefeated

Bar was packed tonight with people being turned away. 300+ capacity establishment. Not sure what the numbers will be but I'm going to say around 700k
It's going to be big. The casino I went to that wasn't even full for the McGregor fight was sold out tonight and I had to go to a bar which was standing room only.
The bar I was at was completely packed. There was at least 200 outside watching that couldn't get in. They are tvs on the patio. I've never seen anything like that before..
I saw about 5 different people on my Twitter feed who have NEVER posted about MMA before talk about Rousey and how good she is.

These are all great to hear.

Trending doesn't mean PPV buys. But if a card as bad as this gets more buys than 187 and 188 combined... I don't know what to say about the state of MMA. Ronda + Conor > Weidman, Jon Jones, Aldo, etc.

MMA is getting bigger....

Which will in turn bring more eyes to Weidman, Jones & Aldo.
Quit crying.

Do you think Boxing fans wanted Mike Tyson representing all of the sport? Probably not but who cares about them.

Who watches these PPVs and what exactly makes Ronda and Conor more interresting that topfighters if higher categories?

I don't get it.

Personality, charisma, finishes, hyping the fight, willing to promote it everywhere.

Everything a purist like you hates.

Dana bringing WMMA into the UFC sums up all that's wrong with him and the UFC.

Why? Because he's a smart business man?

There was no doubt Ronda was a rising star. Dana's refusal to allow Women's MMA in UFC is part of what allowed Strikeforce to become a real threat to them. If Rond awasn't in the UFC she'd be making millions for some other MMA org out there and letting them become relevant because of it.

If this did better then 189 would be insane. I mean the expectations for this card werent huge, but back to back huge ppv numbers would be great

I don't recall word of mouth being this strong about a fight in a long time. This is both from my personal experience of casual people who give no shits about MMA and even LOTS of celebrities on twitter talking about this fight.

A week ago I was thinking it would 500k since it's in Brazil(which would be great numbers).

I can't see this doing under 700k at this point.

i can explain this in words 27.....

everyone who was interested in 189 bought it so there was no need to search it. nobody bought 190 because they knew it wouldnt last 60 seconds.

So you're saying UFC 190 sold 0 PPV buys? Makes sense.

I bought the fight thinking shogun/nog would end in spectacular finish even if they are old, same with struve/nog, i feel like stefan couldve finished it if he was more aggressive from the start

My bar was packed tonight. To think, i wanted to leave after the shogun fight!

Should've. Everything went as predicted.
I wish I would've waited until the Shogun fight to go to the bar. Boring card and the nobodies from TUF Brazil right before the main events. WTF?

That being said the bar I was at was way more packed than the GOAT's fight.

just like 189 doing 1mm ppvs...then reports coming out that its not nearly close to that. lol.

What reports? Meltzer's report said 950k. That's pretty damn close to 1 Million, in case math isn't your strong suit.

Last night my favorite bar was packed tighter than I've ever seen it. Ever. And I watch almost every major sporting event you can think of there.

Facebook was filled to the brim of people who are not MMA fans posting about how awesome Ronda is.

Why do you guys get so bent out of shape when the UFC has success?

The bar I was at was completely packed. There was at least 200 outside watching that couldn't get in. They are tvs on the patio. I've never seen anything like that before. Tell yourself anything you want but Ronda is a huge star.

My experience was the same.

I long ago stopped paying attention to Dana's predictions and trending figures.

I'm in Brazil, we don't have PPV here, but we can subscribe to a channel.

Every bar was packed, facebook non-stop all the day talking about Ronda and Bethe. Some fights were broadcasted for free on Globo.

No one reported the numers yet, but their highest number is Anderson vs Bonnar with 20 points, it's more or less 12 million people watching. UFC 153 did more or less 400k buys, and I bet UFC 190 does more than that.
