In recent days, both White and his next opponent, Daniel Cormier, have expressed impatience with Miocic in booking a highly anticipated trilogy for the title, but the champ is not yet available.

Miocic’s focus has been on his secondary job as a firefighter in Ohio, working on the front lines as a first responder during the coronavirus pandemic. There’s also the fact that, due to shelter-in-place orders, Miocic’s gym is not open for him to train.

All of that adds up to Miocic not being comfortable with the desired August timeline. He stood firm in that position in a recent social media explanation, but White isn’t convinced. He’s already expressed that stripping the champ is “possible,” and he seemingly doubled down on that threat during a media scrum on Friday.

“This whole crew (fighting at UFC 249) trained, we have two more groups of fighters coming in this week that trained and got ready,” White told reporters, including MMA Junkie. “The division has to move on for all the other people. We want to do that trilogy fight then you got the winner of Francis (Ngannou) and (Jairzinho) Rozenstruik waiting in the wings, too. People are waiting. It’s the right thing to do.”

White did not set a specific timeline for when Miocic must commit to a fight. However, he seemingly left the door open for the situation to change.

Miocic (19-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) said he would return to training and sign on to fight Cormier (22-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) the moment his gym reopens, and with the way things are trending across the U.S., White said Miocic should be able to accommodate.

“I think it speaks for itself,” White said. “It is what it is. Most of these states are opening back up. Even Nevada. Nevada, California and New York, as far as I know, have been like the toughest states, and they’re starting to loosen up and open up. We should be able to get a fight by August.”

Dana never forgets

Yep, time for Saltpe to stop his diva shit and fight more than once a year.

Dana and Stipe are not friends. He doesn’t like him for whatever reason.

I don’t know why they don’t make use of him. Tall, all American hero. Firefighter. Why don’t they market him?

come tomorrow night ufc is back up and running unless theyre injured they need their champions to be committed to fighting

Only fighters that make the company lots of money get to hold divisions up for long periods of time. Tough break Stipe.

I don't mind it at all. Because I'm not the biggest fan.

But, let's be real. Lots of champs take their sweet ass time agreeing to fights. This is less about the division and more about Stipe having ZERO charisma and wanting to cash in our D.C. before he hits that retirement window.

Miocic is UFC HW GOAT

Dana hates him, and he also hates GSP the GOAT GOAT and WW GOAT

Racism

Dana is right.

It's the most obvious ducking we've seen in the UFC as of recent and I usually never agree with Dana on these things
I don't, this is one of the most obvious cases of ducking we've seen in the sports history.

Usually when people duck they have decent excuses. So far Stipe's excuses have been "I can't train cause gyms closed hurr durr" even though literally pros on the REGIONAL scene have been shown to still train in their closed gym with a 1-3 others, "I am focused on being a firefighter" ok nice virtue signaling, if you want to be a firefighter than be a firefighter but at least vacate the title and let the division move on, and "muh eye surgery" when literally 2 months ago he said his eye was fine and he wanted to return in the summer (https://www.mmafighting.com/2020/3/...ry-getting-better-summer-return-a-possibility)

Literally all of his excuses for ducking DC are laughable, he knows he won't be able to take advantage of the ONE hole in DC's game he found over the course of 5 rounds, and he knows that DC had the better win of the two AND dominated the 2nd fight until he gassed.

A DC not coming fresh off of back surgery, 5 rounds of experience fighting Stipe, and the motivation for his last fight will run over Stipe just as he's already done.

I'd rather see Cormier vs Ngannou than the trilogy tbh.

This constant rematch shit is JDS vs Cain all over again.

I don;t want to see a rematch to be honest if ngannou wins again. We need fresh matchup and i agree with Cormier vs Ngannou or Cormier vs Rozen. SOmething fresh. Or Stipe vs Rozen.

Khabib can sit out and Dana does nothing, or Jones or any other number of champs but Stipe is the issue. This guy is a first responder and stated he is happy to fight once the gyms are back open and his eye is 100%. Dana is very irritating with his inconsistent treatment of fighters. Have a standard rule that if a champ doesn't fight once every 10 months he loses the belt or keep your mouth shut.

Stipe has fought 6 times in the past 4 years, all title fights. Dana has been pretty patient with him if anything

The UFC desperately needs better heavyweights in the division.

It has to move on by having a guy that’s going to retire after the fight, be champ again.... lol

How are you supposed to market an incoherent bland boring guy with no personality?
