Well, didn't Woodley specifically say he would only be ready by July if it was against Diaz? Because his injury wouldn't be healed enough to take on a "good wrestler". It's the same BS Bisping did with GSP/Yoel. His injury was fine for GSP, not Yoel.

I can see why Dana cracks up. If you're ready to fight, you're ready to fight. As a champ, you can't be healthy for one opponent and not another. That's literally cherry picking.

You especially can't get cranky when an interim belt is made when you can't commit to a real contender due to injury, yet you already said you could be ready if the opponent is a LW striker.

Woodley hasn't done himself a single favour since getting the belt.

Nah. He was willing to fight Diaz before having surgery. Reason being, Nate wouldn't try to wrestle fuck him or wall and stall the whole fight. And that would have been his 5th or 6th fight in 18 months.

yeah funny how it works but most guys are not fighting at 100% and maybe he figured he could beat Diaz at 60% or whatever he was and still cash out. That fell threw so he decided to have surgery and that gives you a pass to recover. The interim forces him to come back and face the winner RDA/Colby or I think he will be stripped

No it’s more because champs don’t want to be very active. The UFC has no problem putting two title fights on a card. Champs within the last year who have said they needed time off for personal reasons or to Rehab an injury include DJ, Garbrant, Holloway, Mcgregor, Khabib, Whitaker, Bisping, and Stipe.

That's pure fucking bullshit and even Woodley knows it. If he had a pressing need for shoulder surgery, he should have announced it immediately after his snooze fest with Maia almost a year ago... He could have done the surgery, rehabbed as needed and been available to fight within whatever timeframe the doctors suggested.

And you know what? He would have taken zero flack from the fans for it.

Instead, he campaigned for a fight with Nate, unranked at WW rather than one of several top 10 WW that would actually have some claim to a title shot.

When that fell through, suddenly he decided it was time for surgery.

We shit on guys like Bisping for being unwilling to fight legitimate contenders and yet Woodley is by far the worst offender currently (given that McGregor will probably never fight again).

Now the inference is that he will be fighting 15 months (at best) after his last fight when he could have easily had this life threatening surgery last July and been ready for a real contender much sooner.

And he wonders why he is so unpopular.
