"You either want to fight [for chump change] or you don't. It's that simple."

you definitely can't trust Dana. But Colby would have taken the title shot if he thought he would win, if he won the title then he would have leverage. Now he has none because next to no one wants to watch him.

Why the fuck would he fight Woodley when he’s earned a title shot?

Woodley is dangerous and could probably take his head off with a single blow.

Woodley is a win that means nothing and potentially a shattered jaw with brain damage from a vicious right hand.

I mean its a huge win for Colby. But its not a good fight to take cuz he'd be KO'd stiff.

Colby and usman have zero leverage. That is where the problems lands for both. Dana is obviously a sleazeball but he knows neither have the worth to open up the ufc’s Checkbook

According to Colby. How many interim belts he needs to win and defend for him to get a titleshot and get paid like the champ he is?

So confusing and likely untrue.

So first time- he passed up a fight against champion Woodley because he didn't get offered enough money.

Instead he fought Robbie Lawler... according to him for money than he would have made fighting the champ?

And again- he passes up a fight against champion Kumaru... according to him, because he would have earned less money than he made fighting Lawler?

Neither of these 2 situations seem believable.

It's highly unlikely that the UFC would offer him more money to fight non-champions than champions on 2 occasions.

At worst, he'll get equal money offered- in which case, it still makes sense to take the championship fight.

And the general approach to making more money is climbing as high as you can (becoming champion if that's possible) until the fights on your contract are up before forcing the UFC to offer you more because you're not obligated to fight anymore and they want to keep you.

Chris Weidman didn't renew his contract and ran up his last fight against Anderson Silva for sub-optimal money because he took a gamble, beat Silva, and negotiated a new contract that made a shit ton of money even after he lost the title.

Seems like Colby knows how beatable he is.

I love that Colby is getting screwed. Love it

Instead, Dana seems believable especially after their negotiation tactics were revealed. Alright, horoshaia logika, molodec.

They all want to fight but Dana doesnt want to pay.
Hes not fooling anyone.

I believe they offered him Woodley and that he turned it down. I also believe that he needs to figure out that you don't get the fat paycheck just for challenging for the title. You get the fat check for attempting to defend it.

But if it's true they were offering him less money for a title fight than they did for a Fight Night main event against Lawler, then he was right to turn it down

Usman is lame & Colby is gay, but it's absolutely the fight to make for the title.

Of course he didn't accept a Woodley fight. And going back to "turning down Woodley" last year when Till stepped in, 228 was 3 months removed from a 5 round battle w/ RDA. Plus he got nasal surgery & it clearly helped him because he kinda gassed vs RDA yet vs Robbie he never slowed down at all. 3 months to unify? They gave Poirier 5 months & Adesnaya 6 months by comparison.

Only Dana could make Colby or Usman sympathetic at in this moment in time.

I believe he was offered a beat Woodley and we might pay you what you want to fight Usman.

Well most people see Woodley as the 2nd best WW of all time, so it would mean a lot but yeah I get why he wouldn’t take it.

Colby thinks he’s worth more than he really is, his heat isn’t the same as someone like Chael where people will still watch, no one cares one way the other about Colby. Boo him, throw shit at him but never watch him fight

I mean. Diaz vs Masvidal is way more fan friendly... and will do better numbers. But … how can you not make the champ vs interim fight happen... even if it is a boring bathroom break fight.
The interim title is simply a marketing tool to sell a fight. It usually doesnt mean anything after that. The UFC doesnt want the interim title holder to have any leverage in negotiations, so they are more than willing to not make those fights.

Its not that dissimilar to how they try to sell contender fights, and they always say 'the winner is next' and then after the fight is over and the revenue is generated, the tune changes. Standard stuff. Say all the right things to make the fight happen and sold, but keep flexibility to do what you want after. People dont seem to really pick up on the fact it sort of makes the rankings/titles less valuable/coveted.

Hes saying Colby ducked Usman then refused Woodley. Basically Colby only fights those he's confident he will win against, so he stays clear of both Usman and Woodley
Are you serious

Why should he fight Woodley? He’s more than earned his shot and fuck the UFC for trying to lowball him for a title fight.

Plus, Woodley (when he was on top) liked making guys wait on him, trying to dictate everything, etc. Now that he's just another guy in the mix, let him wait.

been saying for a while, colby is ducking Usman... he knows he cant win that fight... hell only fight him for substancially more money to where he feels the money will be worth the loss

He didn't want the title shot so they offered him the former champ, that's the biggest fight anyone at the division can get now that Nate and Jorge are matched up.

Colby and Tony get straight shitted on by the UFC.

Colby is getting fucked pretty hard here.

I don't like the guy, but this is bullshit.
