Dana White restates disdain for other promotions

Do not complete clauses are not necessarily airtight. A court could and does often choose not to enforce them based on a number of principled criteria.

The man signed a contract willingly and now he has to honor it? What an outrage!

this, sucks balls but once its signed its a wrap.

The only possible way out of it is; if Eddie is getting a PPV cut and his lawyers can argue the point that Bellator isnt really "matching" the UFCs offer.

Dana White talks a lot of shit about boxing not making the best fights and promoters working together, yet he would never even entertain the idea of working with another promoter.

I know the circumstances are different in MMA and that business models are far different then boxing, but still. If you want Alvarez in the UFC, offer Bellator some money and match him up against someone. Give Bellator some ad space and call them a co-promoter on fight night.Alvarez would still be Bellator fighter, but you could still get him on a UFC card.

Are you new to the UFC way of doing things?

Don't see anything Bellator did/is doing wrong, it's a smart move to try and hold on to their investment, they made Alvarez the name he is, and now that he has a name in MMA he wants to jump ship to the UFC. If they feel that he's worth the money to match the UFC's offer then they should do it and make it so that they have the best chance at resigning Alvarez.

false.. If anything Eddie made Bellator more popular by signing with them. He's been the face of their organization since he signed, he was there biggest signing ever.

The problem isn't the business practice.....its how does Bellator match certain criteria's that the UFC would be giving him. That is the gray area. Eddie and UFC don't believe Bellator matched the offer. Someone can take you to dinner at a nice steak house and someone can take you to McDonalds. In the end both took you to dinner but there is a big difference.

A few examples...
-Health Insurance (Bellator can't just give one fighter insurance and no one else)
-Sponsorship money...Always higher in the UFC
-PPV Buys...I'm assuming if they gave Hector it they gave it to Eddie.
-Maybe something like guarantee main event on FOX.

Oh well...Eddie is suppose to be on MMA Hour so he is going to tell everyone exactly what the problem is.

Dana summed it up in the following tweet on twitter:
"Hypocrites at Bellator are fucking their fighters. It these type of peep that UFC never worked w other Orgs. #NOCoPROMO"

Looks like Dana's at it on twitter again and this time for good reason as Bellator has been making negotiations for Eddie Alvarez a living hell.

Through a series of tweets last night and this morning Dana has laid out how Bellator is clearly not for what the fighter wants and how UFC has always been pro fighter. Eddie clearly wants out, but Bellator's shady contract wont let him and Alvarez isnt even a champ

LOL ok.
So let me get this straight.
UFC wants Eddie and bellator is not willing to give it to them.

Then Dana has this hissy fit and you think he is right?

So every promotion has to allow their best fighters to go to UFC or else they suck?

Those Zuffa-Zombies are at it again!

Before you talk you should really know what the issues are your talking about.

UFC puts the same clause into their fighters contracts as well, they just never have to use them.

dana's contracts are the same - just ask rampage who wants out. or ask any of the "cut" fighters who aren't wiht UFC anymore.

I guess everyone just forgets about Jon Fitch and the entire AKA team almost getting booted out of the UFC because Jon wasn't to keen on the idea of losing the rights to his likeness for life so the UFC could make a video game.

Or the sponsors being blocked by the UFC unless they paid a fee to Zuffa to sponsor a fighter, or the hundred other examples of UFC being shady as fuck.

They're promoters people, they're all shady, Bjorn is no worse then Dana. Promoters are going to be scandalous, it's in there DNA, #1 rule here is if you want things to go smoothly dealing with another promoter it's probably not in your best interest to talk shit about them in the media every chance you get, maybe it's just me but I wouldn't be playing nice after that and would do whatever I could to fuck you back.

Why shouldn't they get a cut for a sponsor using their brand to market? Go read some past threads about guys like Nate Quarry, KZ, Maia, getting hosed by sponsors who never had enough capital in the first place.

Do you think the NFL would let their players wear sponsors without a kickback fee? Individual sports like golf or tennis require big sponsors (Nike, Mercedes) to pay sponsorship fees as well. I wouldn't call the UFC's policy shady, it's more about being protective over their brand.

They're promoters people, they're all shady, Bjorn is no worse then Dana.

You have no clue...go dig up some articles about Bjorn and boxing. Also, have you ever realized that Bellator hosts all their events at Indian Casinos??? Hmm, wonder why a Bellator fighter has never tested positive for illegal substances. Oh, that's right there's no state commissions overseeing Bellator's events. Wait, does Bellator have their own drug testing then like the UFC does. No way. Bjorn knows what he's doing, he did the same thing in boxing.

Dana can be over the top, but he does not try to go around the commissions in order to overstep the rules. Think about it, 70 Bellator events, 0 fighters testing positive for steroids. Bjorn is much shadier.

Yet he wouldnt release Randy, to let him fight Fedor...

Randy didn't fullfill his contract and proceeded to lie about how much the UFC was paying him. Sorry but if I give you a million dollar signing bonus your finishing your contract. If you then go on to lie about how much I'm paying you to make me seem like scum be prepared for me to come at you with everything I got.

Rights to likeness are giving up in a lot of sports. It's not so much they take your likeness rights in the sense and you get nothing ever from it. It has to do with protecting the brand. They want a say in what you do. They don't want Anderson Silva showing up in some porn movie or whatever.

Sponsors pay to be in lots of sports, nothing new here. You do know one of the biggest reasons why the UFC make sponsors pay is because so many of these new "mma" sponsors weren't paying fighters at the end of the day and not living up to there contracts. It was a way the UFC could help protect the fighters and have a say as to what is being sponsored inside there cage. Bud Light doesn't want to be a major sponsor of an event and every fighter inside the cage is wearing Miller Lite trunks or be associated with a brand they don't approve of.

Usually its not about being shady........its just fans don't want to think the big picture or what if happen.....but in the real world business you got to think on all aspects.

Funny how all the cut UFC fighters want back in the UFC. Josh Barnett, Timmy, Andrei,BJ,not to mention the ones praising about getting paid more Wanderlei.
