Dana White: "I'm beyond disappointed. We're not paying lip service to this. We're trying to clean this up. It's hurting everyone in the sport and we're all over it."

Ali's situation was known already, he was suspended form Combat Sambo and still fought for the UFC title.

Dana's trying to calm things down, it seems. How are they gonna clean all this up?

UFC is almost only in the headlines these days for guys failing drug tests, not a good look

^^^ That's true... but on the other hand it's highly publicized that they are trying to improve the situation instead of downplaying it.

This part was interesting:

Furthermore, Bagautinov must pass a drug test at the end of his suspension before he is allowed to step foot back inside the Octagon.

Looks like the UFC if finally starting to shoulder some responsibility itself rather than just relying on the commissions.

Stiffer penalties.

DFW has repeatedly claimed that UFC fighters are subject to the toughest testing in all of sports and that his athletes don't use. I wonder if he'll ever admit that the sport has never been clean.

Guys in the NFL fail all the time, no one gives a shit. I'm surprised it's blown up so much in MMA, when people in the NFL are doing just as much damage to each other during practice and on the field.

EDIT: By blown up, I mean that people make as big of a deal about it. Just seems people unjustly say MMA is dirty, but the biggest sport in America in which athletes have taken their lives in manners to preserve their brain due to damaged done by the sport, gets a pass when it comes to PED's.

This is a valid point. But neither football nor MMA have the stigma around PEDs that baseball does. It seems a big part of society cares more about endangering 100-year-old records than it does about endangering people.

Yeah, in the beginning he was saying like the UFC is running tests and they're all getting randomly tested all the time for everything. He's not saying this for quite some time now and probably because it was never the truth.

says this...

While signing Vitor Belfort to a title fight immediately after a failed test.

So let me ask this question. Are they tested WHILE they are suspended?

No. That's why it was kinda weird to hear: ...must pass a drug test at the conclusion of his suspension before receiving clearance to compete in the UFC again."

Basically, he can do whatever he wants now in peace and just show up clean a year from now.

It's widespread in all sports. Baseball and mma are the only ones that seem to acknowledge it. Nfl nba nhl don't really talk about it

Dana is desperate to save fight cards so he'll even add a guy who's popped dirty recently in hopes of him making a great fight

the only fighters in UFC who don't use drugs are Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson.. every other fighter does, deal with it, its the reality, they are all cheaters.

People in the NFL are significantly punished (i.e they aren't suspended for 6 months during the off-season) after their failed drug abuse makes ESPN and other news and websites.

In the UFC, they try to brush it under the rug and give the offender an immediate title shot or headliner fight.

And the failure percentages are greatly different... MMA is like MLB/Cycling with its epidemic.

That's what I thought. These guys probably go juice crazy while suspended, might as well
