Dana White pissed after corrupt NY politician released early

He wasn’t the puppet. He was the fuckin one with the power. Everything springs from the dispute only because the guy in power gives his power to the guys feeding him funds.
Again, why did Silver block the bill? Because he was asked to, that's the answer, period. It's not like Silver woke up one day and was like, hmm, ya know, I really hate mma, a sport I've probably never seen, I will never let it be legalized in the fair state of NY.
he didn’t really have the power as assembly speaker for the state of New York......smh....
It's a powerful position, but nothing compared to the power organized labor can have in a state like NY. Unite Here isn't even the biggest union, but they are still more powerful than Assembly speaker in Albany, and they're based out of NY. That's not even getting into unions backing each other, pissing off Unite Here means pissing off even more powerful labor groups.
He’s just a poor helpless puppet.
Again, please point out where I said that. Saying he's a puppet doesn't absolve him of culpability for the mma thing or any other litany of things he did.

In real life, the union didn’t stop the bill from getting to the assembly, and didn’t stop the bill from passing once the criminal was removed from office. He was literally the reason it took that long. And once he was gone, it went through. Yet somehow, it wasn’t his fault or the reason......

Again, I didn't say he has no fault or no role in the scenario. You just have the weirdest logic process for this. Party A leans on Party B to do X. So you blame Party B more than Party A. Mkay. All this because you got your pants in a bunch over me answering someone's question as to why mma was blocked. lol

no one asked a fuckin question. They asked a question to themselves and answered it themselves. And your answer was wrong. You didn’t even mention silver in your answer. Lol.

Party B has a job to do. They abdicate their responsibility to their constituents to placate a special interest group (Party A) because of campaign funding. They don’t do their job. But let’s not blame Party B......

You are strange. The guy was wondering why the UFC had trouble getting into the state. I told him the origin of the conflict. Perfectly factual response. My answer even points out that Silver is part of the legalization shitshow. Just...what is your quibble lol.
"It was because the Fertitas kept trying to fuck with a culinary union in their casino, so labor in NY gave the UFC the finger in retaliation. Notice Dana isn't pissed at the guy for being corrupt, it's just for the UFC fiasco lol.

You said labor gave the ufc the finger. You didn’t say silver was the reason. You said labor in NY fucked them, completely abdicating silver’s role.

The fact is NY was the 50th state to legalize mma. And yet it was activity in Nevada that you claim was the reason. Unrelated to mma. The union didn’t stop the NY senate from voting for the bill. The union didn’t stop mma from being legalized in 49 other states. The union didn’t stop mma from being legalized once silver was in jail. This all powerful union didn’t shut down mma anywhere except one place through the actions of one guy and one guy only. Sheldon silver.

The origin of mma being blocked in NY was ONE guy. The guy this thread is about.

You said labor gave the ufc the finger. You didn’t say silver was the reason. You said labor in NY fucked them, completely abdicating silver’s role.
OH lordie. I guess it's time for sentence breakdowns, the civics lesson wasn't enough.
It was because the Fertitas kept trying to fuck with a culinary union in their casino, so labor in NY gave the UFC the finger in retaliation.
This sentence establishes that the conflict originates from the Fertita union dispute. This has been corroborated by most of the parties, Dana, the Fertitas, even labor bosses confirmed that the NY fiasco was over a labor dispute in Vegas.

Notice Dana isn't pissed at the guy for being corrupt, it's just for the UFC fiasco lol.
But wait, there's more, this sentence establishes that Silver (aka "the guy") had a role in the legalization mess. I'm clearly assigning blame to him for that.

So no, I did not abdicate Silver's role. Also that's not even how you use the word abdicate, but whatever. If you think politicians are more afraid of an Assembly speaker/party boss than a union like the Teamsters, you have are ignorant of American politics.

Sad. You stated the reason was culinary union dispute with the fertittas. That was the reason. You didn’t mention silver by name and just referenced Dana was mad about a fiasco. You didn’t at all put blame at his feet. So stop insulting people’s intelligence by suggesting you did.

again. Mma was legal everywhere. It was through the NY senate. The union had no impact anywhere except with one guy. One guy who was a criminal who stood in the way because he’s a crooked pol.

you put the lions share (your words) on the union. Not the pol. The union was mostly responsible. Not the one guy who blocked mma in the only state that didn’t legalize mma until he was in jail. You claimed the union would have just leaned on the next guy. Yet the next guy helped legalize mma. You said he was just a powerless puppet. Don’t try to pretend you didn’t say all these things.

How do you function in life with such lackluster reading comprehension. Why would I reference Silver by name responding to a post about Silver in a thread about Silver? Did you think I was talking about some other NY local politico who went down for corruption charges in a thread about Silver? Context clues, they are your friend. Like...I can't even insult your intelligence if you think the below sentence is referencing anything other than Silver and the legalization mess. At this point, I feel like I'm doing animal research.
Notice Dana isn't pissed at the guy for being corrupt, it's just for the UFC fiasco lol.

I'm sorry the union didn't have a time machine to go back and fight legalization in other states where mma was already legal? Or that they didn't fight mma legalizatoin in some backwater elsewhere in the world? I don't know what you want me to say here.
you put the lions share (your words) on the union.
Yup, notice that it took a year or two for the NY legislature to take up legalization after Silver was already indicted and removed.
One guy who was a criminal who stood in the way because he’s a crooked pol.
One guy fought legalization because his benefactors asked him to. He also happened to be a crooked pol.
You claimed the union would have just leaned on the next guy. Yet the next guy helped legalize mma. You said he was just a powerless puppet. Don’t try to pretend you didn’t say all these things.
Dear lord.
Here's Dana saying that organized labor was to blame.
Oh wait, here's Lorenzo Fertitta blaming organized labor for NY.
Here's Unite Here's memo with bullshit reasons why not to legalize mma in NY. Notice that Unite Here is based out...wait for it...New York.

Honestly, how someone like you goes through life with such an inability to learn or even acknowledge error is magnificent.

You suprised? There are people in this forum that believe the UFC arranges murders
Not saying they arrange murders but I was told that they do and just because I'm telling you that doesn't mean I believe it ;)

seems like you left out an important quote from dana:
https://sports.yahoo.com/dana-white...-of-sheldon-silver-from-prison-225428658.html
“We had to wait 10 years to get into New York because of this guy,” White said. “Not only did we get cheated because of him, but the fans got cheated, the State of New York got cheated out of millions of dollars in taxes and economic impact, and the athletes and sport got cheated by not having access to the media capital of the world.
here's another one:
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/mar/22/new-york-legalizes-mma-ufc
The senate had passed a legalization bill in each of the last seven years, but it consistently stalled in the assembly due to the staunch opposition of former speaker Sheldon Silver, who was arrested on federal corruption charges in January.
Here's a pretty accurate and foreshadowing article from 2013: https://sports.yahoo.com/news/mma--mma-in-new-york-074331338.html
MMA in New York? Not until assembly speaker Sheldon Silver's gone ...
  • If it does not come up for a vote, it's the work of one very powerful and out-of-control politician, assembly speaker Sheldon Silver of Manhattan.
  • Silver, though, is clearly abusing his power in denying a vote on the bill, particularly one with such broad support.
  • New Yorkers across the state elected their assemblymen to represent their interests. Instead, they've got Silver playing their representatives like marionettes.
funny you portrayed silver as the poor little puppet.......

and lol at you pretending your "answer" put any blame on silver.......this is a quote from you:
"A poster asked why mma took so long to get legalized in NY. I explained to him the main reason NY's legislature dragged its feet on it." - avenue94
lol. "NY's legislature".......comical.........
