During the pre-fight media scrum, Dana White showed that he was not keen to sign Nick Newell to the promotion.

Dana is basically going on record that he would not sign Newell based on his disability. I think there's a law or two against that.

In a court of law, Dana would answer:

"I made that statement beacuse I am concerned about his security and his health".

When dana white says maybe, that usually means possibly

Well he does have around one and a half arms.

There's just no way, especially if he keeps performing well he wont get a TUF spot some day.

Do you know what a synonym is? Because maybe and possibly are synonyms.

It's not exactly a desk job..... Disabilities in MMA aren't the same.... Besides Dana said he wasn't even sure if Las Vegas or any other bigger commissions would even let him fight. He wasn't dismissing him based on anything in particular, he actually has a lack of knowledge for who the guy is... He thought Nick had no arm at all, That's when he said " it's hard enough to fight in the UFC with two arms... Reporter informed him about nick having a stub passed his elbow, then Dana pondered.

I just watched this Newell video win a small org championship. Incredibly inspirtational stuff, can't help but root for the guy.

With that being said any talk of him being in the UFC is absurd. Lets not pretend he wouldn't get stopped in the first round regardless of opponent.

    Those question are absurd, lol.

Guy's pretty awesome, and all, but him fighting UFC caliber fighters would be sadistic.

Womans mma is bad enough. We dont need anymore handicapped divisions or anything. Anyone who takes a fight with that guy( or that guy with no limbs) is an absolute joke.

In Dana's defense I'd like to point out that he never saw the guy.
He responded like this before they told him that Newell's arm actually goes further than the elbow.

I still don't see him anytime in the UFC, but it makes a big difference compared to having no arm at all.

I don't think it can happen personally unless they made some sort of seperate division

Questions would need to be answered about whether he has an advantage on the ground and how they will pad his arm, as I don't think they do that at the moment do they? Getting hit by the clean bone part at the end of the arm wouldn't be pleasant

He has my full respect, but I don't think disabled and able bodied athletes compete against each other in any other sport do they?

I wish people would watch all of Newell's fight before saying "no way". the guys looked more then impressive in most of his fights.

He also said he's never seen nick fight before and he didn't know Nick has part of his forearm which helps him a lot just because dana doesn't know who he is yet doesn't mean he doesn't have a chance

in fact iirc correctly he tried out for tough and was denied then started getting some more w's and was invited to try out for another season of tuf but he chose not to.

id like to see how he does against higher competition first, like against wilcox or something. Kids got talent, hoping he can make it to the big stage!

he hasn't. He says as much in the video. All that stuff is up to Joe Silva anyways. If Joe wants to give him a shot they will. I say treat him like anyone else. Give him a shot. If he loses cut him. Nick is really good and has looked great lately.

While his case (just like Hamill's case) is inspirational, I'd feel it is a lose-lose situation for any of his opponents.

I sort of agree with Dana, I would be scared for his safety.
