News Dana White on Khamzat Chimaev: “He’s not supposed to be training, but you know, this guy’s a savage.

It's prednisolone.
I had it before really messes with your emotions.
Started a fight with one of my friends and some of my family.
I literally didn't socialise for 3 months whilst on it.
Hard to control.
I've been there man. 2019 my colitis flared up like crazy and I was put on back to back to back prescriptions of pred. Would not recommend especially with the insane mood changes and weight gain.

The guy just needs to let Dana take care of him. Even if he's out for a year or two, the guy can make absolute bank with the UFC after.

No need to rush recovery

I truly believe that Dana's erection for khamzat could not be any harder.

I've taken it at times for swollen injuries etc. Its effects can vary, but you definitely should take it easy and rest while on it. Dude seems like he just needs to relax and chill for a couple months. When you train it often makes your immune system weaker, no matter how strong and tough you are.

I remember they put me on some hard drugs when I was in the ICU, apparently I was hitting on the nurses and making them laugh. All the people that worked the floor knew my name and came to visit me. I don't have any recollection of who they were. I'm not that outgoing in life. I'm a bit reserved. It was cool seeing hot nurses stop by my room and I had no idea who the hell they were.

I would never want to get put on medication like that again.

I got prescribed the same drug when I fucked up my ankle, it didn't do shit.
I see a lot of people saying, "Prednisone is no joke...I took it and I started seeing monsters in my room." I work at a COVID clinic and we prescribe Prednisone all the time, many times for COVID patients, but also asthma patients. A lot of patients get upset stomachs but I can't really recall anyone being emotional from taking it. I get he shouldn't be training on it though because the side effects can make you feel crummy. The weird part of this story is it seems that he trained while taking it and wasn't able to push himself like he usually does and assumed that is his normal now so he decided to retire off that. Kinda shows where his mental game is. Either that or his failure to realize you shouldn't be training on Prednisone because you're likely having breathing issues if you're a COVID patient.

I prescribe patients this all the time...confusion and delirium is not a common side effect of prednisone. Little old ladies take this yearly for asthma with no issue. Not saying you don't have side effects but I don't think I've ever heard of someone acting that way. There was likely something else causing that, not the prednisone.

Oh I wasn't talking about prednisone just in general being on hard drugs prescribed by doctors while I was in the ICU. Sorry I should have clarified.

I don't smoke or drink so that feeling when I woke up from it all was nauseating

Yeah it's crazy!

Okay, makes sense. Who knows what you were getting if you were in the ICU. I just see a lot of people defending his possible lapse in judgement on the prednisone because it made them crazy or something.

I had an episode due to stress of college midterms and I just remember waking up in a hospital and told I was there for sometime.

But yeah I don't know much about that steroid

I remember when I was on prednizone, t3's and demerol all at the same time when i was 13. Good times!

“When he got here, the doctors took care of him, and they put him on prednisone, which is a nasty f*cking steroid,” White told MMA Junkie. “So he’s on prednisone, and he’s supposed to be taking this thing and chilling, relaxing, and letting himself recover. He went in and f*cking trained today, felt like sh*t, and got super emotional and posted that.

“He’s not supposed to be training, but you know, this guy’s a savage. He wants to fight like every f*cking weekend, and now he can’t even train, so he just got emotional and posted that, but he ain’t quitting.”

He was flown out here so that we could take care of him,” White said. “We get him taken care of. They got him on medication. He’s going to be fine, and he goes in and starts f*cking training. He’s not supposed to be training, and he’s super frustrated.

“He’s training when he’s supposed to be resting. He’s got to stay off, at least while he’s on this medication.”

Side effects of

    • Aggression
    • agitation
    • blurred vision
    • decrease in the amount of urine
    • irritability
    • mood changes
    • bloody, black, or tarry stools

Alot of those side effects are less common, the main ones people tend to experience is increased heart rate and agitation, but one thing not listed is that it also severely compromises your immune system, my wife and I would get sick 100% of the time either us had to take it, shit is really not good for you and frankly it's over prescribed.

I have not followed this chimaev situation closely and am not a doctor or expert by any means:

I cannot make sense in any scenario why hes on prednisone having had covid recently and is clearly suffering some nasty long term damage from it, from what I have read about him and his troubles, prednisone seems like a fucking horrible idea, there are other meds that serve similar purposes with less or less extreme side effects.

I got prescribed the same drug when I fucked up my ankle, it didn't do shit.
How long did you take it for? A few days, a week?, if you don't mind me asking? Was it injected intravenously?

I’ve taken prednisone for poison ivy before. Lol. It’s useless.
I also took it for inflammation in a joint or something.

Khamzat comesback on roids and KO's Adesanya,Usman,Whoever LHW and HW champs are in 1 punch to become the first ever 4 division champ

Dana is damage controlling but I'm sure there is a hint of truth here. Khamzat was probably trying to train and shouldn't have, and probably did get emotional when he couldn't continue and coughed up blood in his hotel room.

But, the fact remains that prednisone is not causing him to cough up blood but the Covid is, which is very worrying this far out. As was his collapsing during training last week.

The fact that Dana says Khamzat will be back in June is complete bullshit... which is also worrying. He's toting the company line. The situation seems much more grave than that and we're not being told the whole truth.

<DontBelieve1>
I don’t think Khamzat ever comes back, Covid is a new disease but early indications suggest that certain people indeed get PERMANENT lung damage. The lungs aren’t like the kidneys where they can be effective at even 20% functionality. I think he’s fucked from a conditioning standpoint unfortunately. He’ll be one of the biggest what if’s in MMA history.

When my doctor prescribed it to me, she said severe mood changes can happen and if I start to have suicidal ideations, mention it so the dose can be tapered.

This thing is to reduce the inflamation in his lungs. He just need to chill and see in a month if it helped.
