Dana White: "Gustafsson's next in line"

what if the UFC picked CHael to fight Jones next? should Jones just fight him because the UFC said so or insist on fighting DC or GUS?

no, because dana already said, on more than one occasion, that gus was next in line. but in the highly unlikely scenario that chael p. sonnen was an injury replacement, then maybe, especially if both gus and dc are out.

Typical cry baby Dana interview slinging mud to try and sway braindead sheep onto his side.

Um....how so? The only thing braindead is your post. It makes ZERO sense. Please refrain from calling other people stupid if you cannot do so in an intelligent way, because the rest of us just chuckle behind your back. 'Go get em' tiger.'

The only takeaway from this is that Dana continues to prefer to negotiate in public so that he can try to manipulate public opinion to apply negative pressure on the fighters he is supposed to be promoting. That and you can't believe a word that comes out of his mouth - but that is nothing new.

Hmm, so Jones posting videos on Instagram is NOT negotiating in public? Interesting.

Clearly this battle was started when Jon refused the most logical and anticipated rematch in the division. Gus wanted it. The fans wanted it. And the UFC wanted it.

Pretend for a moment that Cormier does not exist. And I admit that Cormier is what Jones is relying on insofar as Jones wants us to think Cormier represents a material fact and is the issue by which Jones if formulating a principle to refuse Gus. What then? What if there was no Cormier? Could Jones still refuse Gustafson and be the undisputed champion?

Jones is scared of the toughest fight and #1 Contender Gustafsson.

Reporters asked Dana questions and he answered them - and now he's "negotiating in public" Had they asked questions and Dana refused to answer then it would be "Dana in secret negotiations, refuses to answer questions!"

Dana White cannot win with you guys, your jealousy is ridiculous.

WTF in your twisted world is Dana lying about now? He want Jones vs Gus, Jones doesn't wanna fight for whatever reason! How can you say you wanna be remembered as the best of all time yet say "oh..but I don't wanna fight him..."

If you really are the best then fight whoever they put in front of you and just win

DC is the smelliest Brown-noser in MMA. He just makes himself look more and more stupid every time he opens his mouth.

I wonder who Dana will say is the #1 P4P fighter next week

Thank You Based Dana.

The only one calling for Jones to fight DC, is DC! Jones losses more and more fan support everytime he pulls this shit...

This is an incredible apt description of what he is doing, yes.

That I'm on his side in this particular issue doesn't mean that I like his tactics more than usual. Negotiating in public, undisclosed payments, and privelegies instead of rights are the lynchpins in Zuffa's way of dealing with their fighters.

He's not particularly bad in this particular article, though.

This is all crazy. Know why Dana & Co. went ahead and announced the matchup with Gus? Because Jon fuckin Jones SAID he'd be next after Texeira. He "promised" it. The UFC and its top brass made a matchmaking decision (as they're supposed to do) based on the words of the champion in question.

NOW he wants to renege and fight for some control? How does it make it look like he's doing anything BUT ducking? Holy shit. Let's let ALL the champions decide who they want to fight, and not get upset with them when they talk shit about fighting anyone, anytime, just to do the exact opposite and mask their bitching with concerns for "business".

Champions fight whoever is placed placed in front of them. Jon will never be considered one of the greats if he continues down this path. All the skill in the world and not enough confidence in himself to just go through whoever is in front of him. Cormier is a legit challenger, but he is ducking Gus and no one can prove different. It's a shame. Dana is 100% correct. This guy has the whole world just sitting in front of him to take, and he is constantly sabotaging himself with this shit.

thank you. lest we forget what jones had said earlier.

Has anyone considered the possibility that Jones has no intention of actually forcing the UFC or trying to sit out a rematch with Gus? And that this is just media attention to build up PPV buys for when he DOES fight Gustafson? I mean, Tito Ortiz's fights sold. And one reason was everyone wanted to see him get his mouth shut up.

It can't be ruled out with certainty.

People cant seem to separate their (justified) dislike for Dana from this issue. The LHW champ is trying to change his #1 contender opponent at the 11th hour for no other reason than a pissing contest. Dana generally being an ass doesnt change that.

Either you want your champ picking fights or you dont. People here like to change their principles based on how much they like or dislike the people involved.

jones is the most unlikable champion in MMA history

cos beating Jimi manuwa means you're number 1 contender

lol You don't make decisions based on promises, you get it in writing. Jones saying he'd do something is no reason for the UFC to make a matchup AND set the date without getting Jones to agree to it first.

The UFC also told Machida he would get a title shot against Jones, how did that non-rematch workout? The UFC said Woodley vs Rory would be for a titleshot, then they turned around and made Lawler vs Brown for the titleshot.

The UFC has no problem on reneging on their promises, so I have no issue with it when fighters do the same thing.

That's just stupid. We all know why Gus deserves another shot. That was nothing but a tune up. For the rematch he earned in the first fight.

If Dana is telling the truth, which all indications are he is, he is 100% right here. If Jon wants to be the cowardly lion the UFC doesn't owe him cover for the behavior.
