Dana White: "Conor remains main event, undecided whether it will be for an interim belt"

Interim is dumb, yeah. The dude's gonna be out, what, like 6 weeks? Interim belt means nothing at this point, it's just to sell the PPV.
 
Dana is kinda being stupid with Khabib. All Khabibs manager said was they offered the fight to the UFC and they turned it down. Dana goes on a rant about Khabib not deserving it and being booked, aka reasons for them turning it down. Never denied the fight was offered, but calls Ali a liar anyways lol. What an idiot.
 
If they actually make this an interim title fight, than I've officially lost all respect for the UFC. It will be a complete joke.

'Khabib hasn't fought in two years! But we gave FOX that fight!'

So Khabib isn't getting the fight because he's unreliable but they'll be damned if they take him from the FOX card with Rashad, Shogun, Machida, and Hendo on it and put him on a card that has the two most popular champs in the UFC on it.

That's pretty much the purpose of all belts. Belts don't need to exist, instead of " champion " you could just have him the #1 fighter in the division. But that wouldn't sell as well as a champion ship belt for a big piece of gold.

its about the injury and the rest of the card too. It would be weird to have a non title fight main event over a title fight for co main. RDA might not fight for months, upwards of 9-10 months.
 
what does it fucking matter if it's for the interim belt? RDA still has the real belt, and then the unification bout will be even bigger. you guys let the conor hate blind you... smarten up.
 
When Conor fought for the "interim belt" in UFC 189, did Aldo lose his belt? No. It gurantees a unifying event at 194 though. How is this any different? It gives Conor a little piece of metal and RDA also gets to keep his and they unify it at a future event.

It's not rocket science guys. If you want to argue that he never deserved the title shot in the first place fine, but to completely lose your shit over a meaningless interim belt is idiotic.
 
So basically UFC should just rename all "interim" belts "Conor" belts.

If Cerrone steps in to fight for the Interim Belt, he is sure to lose and I would like to see Cerrone mop the floor with Conor. But he just doesn't fight with confidence in title fights :(
 
Doesn't surprise me, Abdelaziz has something about him that gives off the impression he's a sketchy guy, Khabib was offered a fight for March 5th and said he wouldn't be ready.

No, you don't get it, Interim belts should not just be handed out to UFC's favorite fighters.
The usual nature, according to UFC themselves, is to make an interim fight only when the champion is unable to defend the belt within a calendar year(roughly).
This all came to a head with Dom Cruz and the ridiculous BW situation.
 
Glad he's still fighting. Good on him. Tricky situation stepping into the weightclass and getting a shot, could of waited but didn't. Nice one Conor.
