Implying he'll come back and fight as usual, that he's just blowing his personal problem out of proportion

I haven't seen any discussion of this. The very first minute, Dana looks relieved and confident that GSP's problem isn't that bad

Kinda bothers me when Dana speaks for people like this. Especially when it's his biggest PPV star. Have bit of respect for George's personal life maybe. We all know he'll probably come back.

Dana is a typical Boss, where if you called in sick because of the H1N1 he will think its just a cold.

If he comes back it will be for one fight only, and it won't be anytime soon.

Dana knows he needs GSP more than GSP needs him. If GSP clearly won and took time off, you think he would have flipped out like this? I'm confident that he acted that way because he saw dollar signs for a rematch. The same dollar signs he noticed floating around his head the second Weidman knocked out Silva.

pretty much this.

Dana did this to Anderson too, when Anderson was saying he wanted to retire, Dana forced him to take the rematch with Weidman. He's using these losses/controversial wins as leverage to set up rematches which will bring in a lot of money

well if it is a sick family member i doubt he's blowing it out of proportion

I think GSP didn't even want to say anything but Rogan kind of coaxed him into talking. Gsp seemed like a kid who just broke up with his girl like the movie swingers.

I love how Rogan never gives up grip on the Mic

Dana probably just felt like GSP should have discussed it with him before he (GSP) made some kind of half assed retirement speech.

I mean I understand Dana, your biggest star says "Hey, I'm leaving, might come back might not", and not in a private setting before hand. What is Dana supposed to do? Let GSP hold the title or make him vacate it?

Dana is as he is, abrasive maybe but he doesn't sugarcoat anything and GSP was being stupid.

Dana White is Will Ferrell in Wedding Crashers. He is that guy that goes to funerals to take advantage of mourning women so to speak. If GSP is concerned and stressing about a family member, Dana is there to rub his back, tell him it's going to be alright and then get what he wants out of him.

Jeez, let the guy breathe for a second. He's just been punched in the head multiple times, nearly to tears at the presser even mentioning the personal problems; now you and Lorenzo quizzing him about it? At least let him have a few days FFS, show some decency.

This. How can Dana say his problems are blown out of proportion? What a dick. He is all about money. He doesn

What bothered me the most was Dana announcing to the world that GSP's problems aren't that serious.

That shit is personal and I would not want my boss to share any such info with my fellow colleagues, let alone the entire world, what he thinks about my problems. I can't imagine what GSP's reaction was when he heard his boss tell a bunch of journalists that the problems he perceives to be serious enough to warrant some time off is really just a scraped knee.

Dana should take a course on how to handle confidential issues. What he did was highly unethical.

Rogan was awful on saturday IMO. Quite biased in the commentary, even more than usual, sometimes even overreacting about the impact of the strikes or when a fighter is in trouble (he was already calling the fight the first time Koscheck was dropped). And I do not have anything against him prompting St Pierre to talk further, but he was all the times asking: so are you announcing your retirement?, when GSP was only talking and reiterating that he just wanted "some time off".

Some time off (specially when you just had the toughest fight of your life and are going through personal stuff) does not equal retirement. He should have just taken his words literally instead of adding fire to the topic.

well, I do not think ethics crossed White's mind yesterday. Even if he said that he was not upset about George, he was almost ranting against him at the beginning of the press conference. And he still did not know about the personal issues!

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Will Ferrell wasn't in Wedding Crashers.

Will Ferrell wasn't in Wedding Crashers.

It was an uncredited role, but he was there.

Anyway, minimizing someone's personal problems is a really shitty thing to do, but I can't say I'm surprised that Dana White said something shitty, which is a pretty sad statement.
