What’s your take?
I think it’s true. They are both greedy but boxing is way more corrupt and out for themselves while UFC is a monopoly that can run things with the longevity of their organization in mind
Its true they just take it all.
Yeah he is right but Boxing is set up different than MMA.
The problem with boxing is that every popular fighter is a champion, and yet, nobody knows who they had to beat to become champion. It is a sport full of champions who seldom fight the best contenders.
When a boxer says "I am a champion" I don't know what they are talking about.
I think a big problem with boxing is not having a unified super organization that holds all the major events. It would be like if the NFL had to jump through contractual hoops to get the Patriots and Steelers to play each other, just so inefficient in terms of marketing.
And people prefer shorter more fast paced fights. ADHD is very common in America after all.
Bareknuckle is cooler but the talent pool is trash in comparison.
He is right.
Also boxing is complete shit nowadays, I would love to run into the guys that used to talk shit about MMA and BJJ back in my old gym 15 years ago.
boxing has been dying for a hundred years at this point
the narrative has outlived anyone alive
They need to bring back Pre-Queensbury rules. Jack Broughton shit at the very least.
Who is the biggest star in boxing besides the "retired" Mayweather?
100% Boxing is all about getting your own fuck everyone else. Thats why you see pay structures where very small handful at top get good pay. Rest get peanuts. Promoters been doing it for decades.
At least in UFC money is more spread out but they of course should get a bigger cut too
Is Tyson Fury the biggest star in boxing? Jikes it truly is dead then.
Boxing needs a reboot.
Corrupt. Too many slimebags. Too many divisions, many of which resemble WFLW with one dominant champ whom nobody else can hold a flame to. Good fights never come together.
Looking to take a nap real quick? Why you want to get slept?
I don’t even understand the argument. Boxing has a massive amateur breeding ground and pedigree of competition that helps create elite athletes.
It’s a tried and tested formula for talent creation. The idea that promoters should be investing in talent factories seems a bit bizarre to me. They would only charge it back onto the poorest fighters anyway.
I understand that in the sense that the UFC (to me) is going in the direction of becoming a full time league. The numerous centers they're building ultimately will lead to training camps being more and more rare and directly handled by the UFC.
This will open the door to UFC having a lot more control over fighters, and even put in place a yearly salary in lieu of the per fight model we have today. It'll look like the WWE model I think. But you could even think of a sports league model with each UFC training center representing a region, and all the fighters from there will be centralized. That's further down a road, or just a result of my high ass thoughts.
So basiclally that's what Dana means, the UFC is focused on making itself grow, whereas boxing promoters are only focused on keeping their part of the market. The UFC is a market in and of itself.
Dana is right, god bless you boss
