Media Dana implies Jon scared of Ngannou, should drop to 185 lbs, and Jones wants $30mil

He was offered the fight as part of a 3 fight deal, he had a call with the UFC on Jan 10th, 2023 where they offered the deal and the Jones fight for UFC 285 on March 4th 2023. Jones at this point already renegotiated the terms of his 8 fight deal and was slated for UFC 285. Francis declined the deal, the UFC went with Jones vs Gane.

So there is the part where Francis declined the fight.

Jon agreed to the fight after he renegotiated new terms of his existing deal. He was slated for UFC 285, the UFC reached out to Francis to make the fight as part of a 3 fight deal and Francis declined.
He didn't decline to fight Jones, he declined a new contract (which we all knew he was going to do). Jones had a chance to be the last fight on his contract and made sure he was not that fighter.

Normally I'd make a comment about how deluded Jones huggers are, but this doesn't even phase me after the shit they were posting after he beat Stipe.

Too late. Everyone knew Francis had 1 fight left on his contract and was leaving. If Jon was serious about taking the fight that was the time, he didn't. We knew Francis wasn't signing a new deal with UFC. It had nothing to do with money offered, it was his freedom to take boxing offers so any talk of them offering the fight to Francis after that is just posturing.

By declining the new contract he declined the Jones fight lol. They go hand in hand. There was an offer to fight Jones and he declined it for other opportunities.

And we didn't know he was going to do that because leading up to that offer in Jan 2023, Francis kept negotiating a new deal and aiming for the Jones fight. His team and his coach back in Oct 22 were still aiming for this fight and wanted it for March.

And then they kept meeting in December and then had one last call in Jan where the final offer was made.

Jon agreed to the fight after
So he said no originally? Sounds like he turned down the fight.

Oh, it was for deal negotiation purposes? Ok, that's fine. Jon is allowed to turn down the fight because he was still doing deal negotiations. Of course, that doesn't count for Francis though.

That is not true. Francis contract had an expiry date of Dec 22 and he wasn't leaving prior to that. And no, not everyone knew that Francis was leaving because Francis and his team were consistently negotiating to make the Jones fight happen and stay with the UFC for all of 2022. Even back in Oct 22 his management and coach talked about how they want the Jones fight and for March. And that was 2 months before he decided to leave.

“A UFC exec called and basically said, ‘Hey, what is your ideal timeline, and what is your ideal matchup?'” Nicksick told MMA Junkie Radio. “Does it matter what my opinion is? No, but it is nice that they called and asked. I said ideally I would want March, and ideally I would want Jon Jones. The person that called agreed 1 million percent that this is what (the UFC) would like, as well. That is what Francis would like.”

Now that doesn't sound to me like someone who 100% is leaving.

Jon never declined any fight lol. He never got offered the fight. All he did was discuss pay.

Can't offer a fight to a guy who doesn't want it, despite acting publicly like he did

He wanted the fight, the pay just had to be right for it. So a year later when the UFC and Jon agreed on terms of his existing contract, he agreed to the fight.

You're saying Jon didn't want it, so why did he agree for the fight for UFC 285??

In the end there was one time where this fight was actually offered for an event, with a date, pay out lined and in contract. And that was in Jan of 23 for March 4 at UFC 285. Jon agreed to the fight and ended up fighting at UFC 285 regardless, Francis declined and left.

Jones spent 2 and a half years ducking a fight with Ngannou.

You're arguing he came to terms just days before Ngannou entered free agency. That's no excuse for the previous 2 and a half years. Obviously Ngannou wasn't going to accept a lowball offer and locked in contract when he had much bigger opportunities in his future by just waiting a few days.

Again with this nonsense??

You keep posting this nonsense about a conversation between Jon and the UFC where they simply discussed pay. Do you not understand this is a conversation about pay and nothing more?? And not any actual offer to fight. This whole conversation went on for another year before they came to terms. So this conversation you keep posting, this is just the start of their negotiation. They came to terms on the contract a year later, Jon had increased his numbers. Once Jon was happy, he accepted the fight.

There is no 2.5 years. Jon was not taking a fight at HW unless it was for the title, Francis won the title in March of 2021 and then for all of 2022 after Gane, Francis was negotiating a new deal and healing from injury. There was literally 6 months after Francis won the title to make the fight happen in 2021. Jon didn't come to terms in back half of 2021 so they made the Gane fight. And then Francis was out for all of 2022.

There was no lowball offer. There was an offer of 8 mill + PPV to Francis for Jones at UFC 285 , 3 fight deal with no extenstion. That is not a lowabll offer. that is a standard offer with very good pay. Francis was just asking for things that we not standard terms in a contract and the UFC wanted no part of boxing and other things.

Francis ended up taking another deal that worked better for him and that is great. It worked out well with the pay and boxing and he's happier. But don't give me this bull##t about Jon ducking Francis for 2.5 years. You are delusional and lying if you keep pushing this. Bottom line the fight didn't happen because when it was actually offered with a date and contract, Francis declined. Did he duck Jon? No....not at all. He just went with a better deal elsewhere. But if there is anyone to blame for this fight not happening, it's Francis.

Thats back when Dana was more honest and brash

Unfortunately, these people don't operate by facts.

I'll come give you a hand here at some point, just don't have the mental energy right now, lol

Your thread has been thoroughly debunked in several of my last posts.

Maybe do your research a bit better next time instead of referencing only 2021 sources but ignoring everything that happened after that.

I hear you lol. It's like repeating the same thing and over.

Jon ducked Frank for three years.

<36>

Once Frank blew out his knee, had surgery, and made it clear he was leaving, Jon was eager to fight. Lmao.

Before Jon Jones’s fight, Dana White asserted that if ‘Bones’ decided to not retire from the sport after UFC 309 then he would definitely have to defend his title against Tom Aspinall sooner or later and it appears that it might happen sooner than expected. But the amount Jones is asking for the fight may be an obstacle in the clash. How much is Jones asking for the fight? Well, according to some sources, ‘Bones is asking $30 million.

Interestingly, this is the same amount that Jon Jones asked to fight Francis Ngannou, “In his deal, he’s talking he wants $30 million guaranteed. The way that this works is, these guys all share in the pay-per-view,” said Dana White back in 2021. Back then, White called it ‘Tyson Fury’ type of money and did not entertain the request. Almost four years later, will we see a different response?

Does Jones deserve 30 mil for a standard title defense or is he trying to price himself out again?
Jones pricing himself against Aspinall out in the same way he did to duck Ngannou.
