News Dana: If Khabib sits out a year we may have to look at Conor/Ferguson

conor soon challenging frankie edgar and holly holm for most title shots

I’m not saying he deserves a shot. I’m saying people have got shots for much less
has there been anyone that hasn't won a fight in 3 years, not having a winning record with the weight division get a title shot?
I donno if there has been to be honest

Why not just give the belt to McTapper and while we're at it let's also give him the 145 and 170 belt, so we can close the 145-155-170 divisions down.
It seems there has to be a McTapper in the mix or there is no titlefight.
He needs at least 3 wins before fighting for any belt in any division.
If Khabib is out, it should be Tony vs anyone but McTapper because he is not the no.2.

There is no clear cut person except for Ferguson.

Al, Dustin etc have a big win or 2 but need another.

Khabib is suspended and then has ramadan.

Khabib VS Ferguson should be next no matter how long it takes.

This is why the sport is so stupid these days, why bother fighting when a dude that's 1-1 at the weight in the ufc is just getting pushed for a title shot.

Conor hasn't won a fight since 2016 got absolutely embarrassed in his last fight, and doesn't even have a winning record at LW in the ufc. Him getting a shot would be worse than randy coming back to Sylvia in my opinion. There has been other bad ones as well for sure, but this would have to be up there, if not the most undeserving.

Aldo got a title shot off getting KO'd in 13 seconds. Gus got KO'd in 2 minutes in front of 50,000 Swedes by Rumble and got a title shot. Randy got KO'd in the 2nd and 1st rounds twice, retired, and got title shots. Frankie lost two title fights in a row and was 1-2-1 in his last 4 and got a title shot in a weight class he'd never fought in. BJ got multiple title shots coming off of losses and in weight classes he wasn't fighting in. Holly Holm got a title shot on a 2 fight losing streak in a weight class she's never fought in, then got another won coming off of a loss in that weight class. Etc.

You're letting your hatred of Conor cloud your mind if you at all think think he'd be anywhere remotely near the most undeserving title shots in UFC history after getting submitted in the 4th round of a fight where he was down 2-1.

Are you just forgetting Jones? He’s defending the title he just won 6 weeks ago in 3 weeks time

You must’ve missed Gus/DC or Randy’s career.
Jones is defending his title in a wasteland division where the skill disparity is tremendous.

jose aldo beat frankie edgar for the vacant belt after conor ran, he was also the most dominate champ in 145 history, not remotely the same as someone not winning a fight in 3 years getting a title shot.....

Gus got his title shot after jones popped and lost the belt, Granted it wasn't the most deserving, but he was at least a top guy and active in his division at the time, also not the same as someone who didn't win a fight for 3 years.

Randy is your best argument, but he was still an active fighter coming back into a super weak division.

Frankie lost his belt and a contested title fight and was granted a rematch, than lost a split decision which many thought he won, dropped down a weight class to fight aldo. Still not even almost as close as not fighting for 3 years. His loses were arguable decisions.

Penn won his fight for the belt at WW, than lost his rematch against hughes for his second fight for that belt. it was after his controversial decision loss to GSP who many thought he won the fight.

GSP got injured and couldn't go on to fight hughes before penn, so giving how most people thought penn won that fight anyway he was giving the title shot, setting up a rematch with him and hughes. Again not nearly the same as not winning a fight for 3 years.

Holm got a title shot in a new weight class and was the first to fight for the belt, it wasn't an established division she jumped into and jumped lines being given a title shot like conor, again no wheres near the same. As well she beat beth inbetween before going back up to fight cyborg.

Man, literally everything you posted was wrong, and you say im bias? educate yourself before posting next time man. Conor not winning a fight in 3 years after getting embarrassed in his last fight being granted a title fight would be the worst case of an undeserving fighter getting a shot since I can remember. Unbiasly look at it, and try to change my mind

Jones is defending his title in a wasteland division where the skill disparity is tremendous.

He's still defending against the #2 fighter in his division, after having just beat #1 6 weeks ago. This should be praised by everybody for what a champ should be doing.

He got KO'd in 13 seconds. He shouldn't have been anywhere near a title.

He also then got another shot off of another loss to Max.

Gus got his title shot after jones popped and lost the belt, Granted it wasn't the most deserving, but he was at least a top guy and active in his division at the time, also not the same as someone who didn't win a fight for 3 years.

The #1 contender was Bader. Gus shouldn't have been in there after getting KO'd in his hometown.

Randy is your best argument, but he was still an active fighter coming back into a super weak division.

Randy was coming out of retirement when he fought Tim lmao

He also hadn't won 3 out of his last 4 title fights in a row.

Boy you hate Conor. You posted a bunch of nonsense like that getting KO'd cold in the fastest title fight finish of all time in 26 years definitely makes you more deserving of a title shot over someone getting submitted in the 4th round of a 2-1 fight. You also keep mentioning he hasn't won a fight in 2-3 years to try and do some smoke and mirrors to hide that his last win was for the belt and he's only had 1 fight since in that period.

Conor is nowhere near the most undeserving challenger in UFC history if he were to fight Ferguson for an interim, that's a completely moronic stance to argue.

People should praise a cheater for doing roids to speed up his recovery while fighting in a puddle deep division? Anyone putting "Jones" and "praise" in the same sentence can fuck right off.

I thought it was funny how Dana was angry with the reporter for asking if people sit out a while they should be stripped. Yet Conor sat out for a year and a half and held up 2 divisions...
Do you think that maybe, just maybe the UFC let Conor sit out for as long as he did because he brought Zuffa the biggest pay they’ve ever had with the Mayweather fight?

Conor sat out after he made them Mayweather dollars

Khabib jumped over a fence into the crowd and gave them problems with the NSAC

See the difference???

conor doesn't deserve it, but I'll be happy to watch him fold/break/whither under Tony and eventually tap out.

Why ? I mean seeing Conor get fucked up would be nice but this won't be competitive, Tony vs Iaquinta pt Max would be way more interesting

You're right, it probably wouldn't be competitive... Because Conor would box Tony's big ears off his head. I'd still like to see it, though. The reactions here after Conor beat another person that was supposed to "expose" him would be great.

aldo was the most dominate champ in history, we seen cain lose by a one punch k.o and come back and dominate in the rematch. Frankie was suppose to fight conor for the belt, but conor ran from him like the plague. so aldo stepped up like the man he is.
Randy wasn't even retired a full year, he wasn't a year out of competition, how is that comparable to a guy who hasn't won a fight in 3 years getting a title shot honestly? lol
Frankie losing decision many people thought he won getting a title shot in a division down is still not as bad about conor getting man handled in one of the most lop sided title fights at LW in recent history getting a title fight in his very next fight.
Holm moving up to a brand new division and getting to be the first to fight for the title still isn't as bad as conor not winning an mma fight for 3 years, coming off one of the most one sided title fights in some time getting an instant title shot at the same weight class.

I don't dis like conor, im non bias in the situation, could care less about him, but like watching cards with him on it. Conor is about to get the least deserving title shot in some time. all you are doing is showing more of your bias towards him. Its ok to have a man crush, but you lost all logic in the process

Jones fought in December and is fighting in March, and says he wants to fight 3 more times after that this year for 5 fights in 12 months.

Fuck yeah I'm down for that over:

- Cormier doing who knows what, and probably retiring this March
- Whittaker being constantly injured and pulling out of fights last minute
- Tyron turning down contenders
- Khabib willingly going 13 months without a defence when he could fight much earlier
- Max's health issues
- TJ trying to go down and instead getting blasted and having to re-fight the guy who beat him but isn't champ
- Nunes dropping WFW, possibly retiring

Jones is a cheating scumbag who has no respect for the sport or his opponents. Anyone who supports him is no better. It's also funny how you've completely ignored the fact that Jon is using steroids which help not only with building and retaining muscle mass, but also with recovery.

Conor could in fact box Tony up for a round and half after that get tired. What then ?

I was all pro Khabib, but ever since he beat Conor he's turned into the worst person in the sport. First the stupid brawl, then all the boxing talk, and now his self imposed 12 month suspension.

Fuck him defend or vacate, Ferguson v Porier ufc 236 undisputed LW title, unless khabib wants to man up do his promo and have Khabib v Ferguson 236.

Your only fault is debating a guy with a Conor Avi, who is calling you biased! Lol

It's ridiculous.

I say feed Conor to Tony and hopefully some of these guys will crawl under a rock for a while.
