Media Dana: 'GSP didn't want that fight (vs. Anderson) when they were both champs'

GSP always maintained that Anderson could make a catchweight fight, since Anderson was a WW past the age of 25.

GSP said that the body doesn't gain natural size and mass after the age of 25- hinting that Anderson had some help to get his size and strength.

And well, GSP turned out to be right. Anderson Silva failed his first ever random test... that too, for a fight against Nick fucking Diaz, who was moving up from WW.

You're telling me Anderson Silva juiced to fight Nick Diaz, but didn't juice to fight against killers in his division, and against LHWs he fought ?

GSP made the right choice by not fighting a roided fighter.
GSP made a better choice to reward company man Bisping with the biggest payday of his life. I believe Bisping made more in that fight than he did in the rest of his career ($4+ million according to Bisping).
Bisping deserved it. He literally gave an eye for the company, and had to fight many proven steroid cheats in his career.

As far as GSP/Anderson/Jones, none of them ever struggled with making weight let alone missed weight. So they weren't killing themselves to stay in their weight classes.

Can you imagine a dominant GOAT candidate declining to move up despite going through brutal weight cuts...

Funny. Dana must have forgotten the Silva vs Maia fight, like most of us.... You know Dana, when you gave the belt to Ed and stormed out of the arena and later claimed Anderson didn't deserve the St Pierre mega fight.

he also mentioned that anderson refused to move up to fight jones.

Jones, St Pierre and Silva didn’t want to move up in weight, so they’re all in the same boat.

Glad this has finally been settled by the UFC president Dana White, the Canadian's never wanted no part of Silva.

Pinging @Hypetrainofthemonth @Intellidamus to give them an opportunity to retract their positions
Nice to see you’re still around, thought you had been banned by now.
Dana has contradicted himself many times over the years with his different quotes. But hang onto this one if it makes you feel better.

Great career management by GSP. Cleared out his division and moved up when the time was opportunistic only to retire on top of the sport.

As opposed to Anderson who stuck around too long and killed his GOAT candidacy by ending his career by going 1-7

Not a fan of Anderson since the PED use, but if you ignore that, nothing he could do in the cage could possibly hurt his legacy. It's hard to say he should even have retired as he's still making bank headlining, as long as he doesn't take too much damage.

His body of work is so spectacular, staying long past his prime can't hurt it.

Genuine question. Can you see GSP ever fighting again in the UFC?

Dana lies again. GSP absolutely said he’d fight Anderson. But he wanted to gain the weight properly and needed time to do so. He didn’t want to be 190 and fighting Anderson.

He also wanted the UFC to make it financially worth his time and effort to move up since he was getting good fights and good money at WW. He likely wanted that retirement money for moving up.

Dana is such a dick. Everyone must hate working for this back stabbing liar.

Anderson straight up ducked Jones though seeing how he wa easily willing to fight guys like Irvin, Forest , and Bonnar.

Anderson won't move up for a big fight but he'll win 1 fight in 7 years and when he loses act like it ain't no thang... I don't get it personally unless it was just a matter of not wanting to get really hurt

GSP ducked Anderson for 10 years. We all know this, even GSP fans who won’t admit it.

Jones was just entering his prime by the Silva’s prime was ending. There was a super small window to make this fight as opposed to the GSP/Silva fight who both shared a concurrent prime and title reign.

Typical insecure Anderson troll. We should hold it against GSP that he did not fight Silva, but there's a million excuses why it's okay for Silva to duck Jones. He can fight on short notice against DC no problem, but he can't fight Jones in his roided prime because of a short window lol

GSP would have knocked Anderson out with a jab, let's be honest:

Wasnt it gonna be booked when GSP was in Abu Dhabi and Anderson put up that horrible Maia performance?

Bones was saying hed fight in HW since 2013 when Cain was champ lmao

Anderson ducked Shogun after he KOd Lyoto. Didnt want Hashad/Shogun/Lyoto/Bones.

Truth is a fighter moving up and taking the belt is rare and almost always only happens when weak upset champs take the title

No one considered Bisping, Eddie, Jan etc. the best fighter at their weight even tho they held the title. DC KOing Stipe and Manda KOing Cyborg were the only real exceptions in recent history and Daniel was already a HW before he ever drained himself. Before that BJ finishing Hughes.

yes but UFC and many in MMA like to pretend that didn’t happen

We don't see Silva's fans claiming he would've easily beaten Jones though. Quite the contrary, most Anderson fans are very sensible and acknowledge that Jones would've been the favorite

This goes in contrast with heaviliy biased, dishonest GSP fans, who seem to think that Silva was an easy fight because 220 lbs Chael landed a few takedowns (despite the former being finished 2X) lol

Yes, money talks. If they offer him enough money, he won't say no, especially if it's to fight Khabib.

That was the big mistake that Dana and Lorenzo made around 8 years ago. They certainly could have made the GSP-Silva and Silva-Jones super fights. But they weren't willing to offer them enough money. That is one positive that Conor has brought to the UFC. He made them realize that super fights can be lucrative enough that it is worth it to pay very high purses to make them happen.

I agree there are idiots on both sides.
