Dana finally said it!!!!!

He started out with a very Fitch-esque game plan, however, I think after he ate that knee in the second he was on autopilot and Wooten forced him on his back and into standing.

In the first round he power slammed Whooten, passed guard, laid some gnp, took Whooten's back and nearly finished the fight with a RNC. Not sure how that is a 'very Fitch-esque game plan'.

If you take out the slam then it is Fitch-esque

The passing of the guard, the taking of the back and almost finishing the fight with a RNC makes it non-Fitch-esque. What else would you expect him to do? He did exactly what you would expect of a mixed martial artist. You guys have to start actually watching the fights instead of just listening to Dana White's comments afterwards.

Threads like this show just how stupid a lot of MMA fans are. Apparently it should be easy to land big GnP and submit someone, and if you don't then you are obviously not trying to finish.

Dana White can be partially to blame if he got into that guy's head and threw him off his game.

Laid on? What fight were you watching? Wooten was constantly trying to improve his position and won the fight with GNP. Hill was the one trying to neutralize the action

Lmao what? i prefer wooten, but to say Hill was trying to neutralize the action is stupid. Hill slammed wooten, passed his guard, transitioned to wootens back, and nearly finished him with a rnc. He also landed some good punches, elbows and knees up the cage. Is he the most exciting fighter? no, but in no way did he lay n pray in that fight.

Yes. You've been a member since 2004. It's been that way since you first registered on Sherdog.

The difference is, if you're only wrestling, it's very hard to finish the fight. You can try to suplex someone to knock them out, but holding them down isn't going to do anything. When grapplers don't go for submissions, don't take any chances to end the fight, it pisses Dana off and it pisses the fans off.

Hill didn't show that mentality in this fight though......Hill looked active, and looked to finish.

Lol, rewriting history. Hill continually tried to get back to his feet while being smothered.

This isnt the Ultimate Wrestling Championship, its the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Finally, took him long enough.

Probably the only thing hes ever said I agree with.

then why is the ufc full of guys like nik lentz then

The slam didnt do much, although it did look great and reminded me of Matt Hughes.

The RNC was his best offense. He also spent alot of time grinding against and pushing Wooten against the fence before Wooten turned the tables. But, I agree, we have seen worse. Was still happy to finally hear Dana admit that.

They're just words really. Sure Dana has a huge amount of influence for one individual. But ultimately it's the sanctioned set of of rules that determine what exactly this contest is.

Statements like "It's a fight" are just abstract notions. If a person really wants to win a fight by wrestling and just working for positions, then it can be done.

It's not the Ultimate Wrestling Championship, but the judging criteria certainly makes it seem that way.

Exactly. One would think DW would try to exert more influence on the athletic commissions to improve that. That would be an even better idea that cutting boring fighters. Anti-LNP rules would give fighters less chance to be boring in the first place.
