Media Dana confirms Jon Jones retired

I dont think there is a fighter in history outside of hagler who ever left that amount of money on the table
True. Loved Hagler so much..

But he won't get the payday he was going to get for Tom even in a year or so coming back. So this may be it..

The idea that he wouldn't get credit if he beat Aspinall is such a dumb talking point.

It would have given his HW title run far more credibility than it has now.

Of course it would lend credibilty to his HW run. I said *his critics* would not give him much credit...i.e., Jon would not 'win over' many fans by beating Tom.

The risk/reward is poor because Jones does not stand to gain *that* much. His legacy is what it is...those who already see him as the GOAT would have a wee bit more ammunition...those who don't are not going to suddenly jump on board.

If you are in Jones' position, and you weigh the pros and cons of this fight, it is not *that* surprising that he made the decision to walk away.

Let's get Aspinall vs Poatan before Alex ages out. I think it's a gimme fight but at least it'll generate some buzz and could have a historic outcome.

I don't think there's any fight at HW where Tom isn't a heavy favorite, at least until we see his unknowns tested.
Alex and Jon are week apart, lol, and Alex wouldn't make it past the second round. Tom's a big guy and he moves well, Alex would be in deep fast.

Tom has been fighting only 1-2 times a year since 2019 before he was ever even in the UFC.

Are you guys even fans of him
He always had issues getting fights didn't he? Definitely been slow paced in the UFC though, but my understanding from some recent podcasts is they couldn't keep him in regular match ups.

Yeah your post makes as much sense as your dogshit drivel in the war room. "No real challenges" with a defending interim champ in his division. Lmaoooo. Totally expected from a delusional cultist that loves worshiping narcissists
Ok white belt . Perhaps you should have taken a hint and stay banned . You’re not wanted

It's hilarious how bad Jones tarnished his character. He could have literally just pulled a GSP and relinquished his belt after he dominated Gane, and nobody would have gave him shit about it. Now he will go down as the GDOAT.

Feel bad for Tom... so much wasted time

And Jones isn't retired, he'll be back to pick another easy fight soon

Won't be his fault but right the HW division is full of a bunch of guys he has wins over and none of them have HOF resumes.. Tom needed the Jones fight.

He doesn't and the reason is HOW he wins. He's not getting split decision wins over Marcin Tybura. He's wrecking everyone.

Tell me right now a top HW boxer Mike Tyson beat in their prime. Tyson wasn't a star because of WHO he was beating. It was HOW he was winning.

He really stuck to this. He said this before Tom even beat Sergei. It’s total bs he didn’t retire sooner. Tom would have fought like 3x by now I bet.

Tom didn't have to wait, he could have told the UFC he would fight someone else. He chose to wait and see if the fight would pan out. If he was confident in his skills he would have fought others. While the new guys should be respected for stepping in the case, they are. It true fighters like the old school guys.

Jon could have done this after the Stipe fight and would have held onto some decency. Jon knew he was retired then. Jon's legacy is he robbed the fans of Tom walking through couple dudes by now.
Nah, Gane fight yes, Stipe fight after getting "injured" should have retired. Nobody even wanted to see him fight Old Man Stipe.

Well that is a tough 1 because Tyson fell apart however Tom is in his early 30's and is only 15-3.. Tyson was the youngest HW Boxing champ of all time and at 1 point he was also 37-0 with 33 KO's.
