Question for Americans that play blackjack in casino's.
If there is a problem with card counting why don't they do what other countries do (say here in AUS) where they use 4-6 decks at one time, randomly shuffled and place a card marker around 3/4 through the deck so when that random card is dealt the next hand is a new deck.
it is impossible to count cards using this method.
I'm a ex-croupier.
Trust me when I say, they don't ban people from winning too much. It's same as the myth for regular people that management change dealers when the table is losing to slow the tempo.
For high rollers, most of them don't even cash out the ALL winnings. That only happens in Hollywood film that make everyone that watch it dumb.
There is ALSO no ban for losing too much, UNLESS requested in advance by the player. But it can easily be lifted by themselves. Usually 24hrs limit different.
Trust me, I dealed upwards of 750k, table limit even for VIP, per hand before.

They do and its not
That would make sense if he had been gambling at Station casinos.
so why in your opinion then?
interesting, they will not let you do that over here. if you try to place the divider card to close to the back of the deck they will stop you and dealer will place the card around 3/4 deck.
but saying that i'm talking about $10-20 tables, not big money tables.
Forgive my ignorance as I'm not a gambler, but can a person really walk up to the roulette table, place a million dollars on red or black and have a 50/50 shot at it? Or does it not really work that way?

No, there are table limits, maximum amount you can bet, for different bets. Usually 1 for 1 odds bets are 50k, depending on Casinos and VIP. Not typically, 1m bet is not possible.

So can can bet 50K on 50/50 odds? I still find that surprising.....I wouldn't think a casino would be willing to give such good odds.
Thanks for the info.
The odds are not 50/50 because there is a zero and a double zero, which are green and neither red nor black.
European roulette wheels generally have only the zero, while American roulette wheels generally have a zero and a double zero -- thereby hurting the player's odds. This discrepancy allegedly explains the relative popularity of roulette in the two continents, i.e., roulette is more popular in Europe.
I meant that players target games where the casino/dealer places the divider card deep in the deck. Believe it or not, there is actually a newsletter (i.e., Current Blackjack News) that provides information about the alleged level of "penetration" in a given casino.
There may also be situations where the dealer places the divider card deep in the deck in anticipation of a compensatory tip -- not an overt conspiracy or collusion but a situation where the dealer knows that s/he stands to gain from deep penetration and silently obliges the counter.
It's amazing to me that it's legal for them to ban players that win. Casinos are such a joke, I'll never understand why people support them.
