Yep. I send a weekly report to the UFC including the usernames and ISPs of everyone who posts pro-streaming comments.

They sure do a lot better than cop killer Donnie looking for votes or finding judges that don't laugh them out of court for their completely evidence free voter fraud accusations.

IMO, this is reasonable approach to the situation we are in.

I pay for fightpass and literally every single fight pass event is blacked out for me live in Canada, because TSN or someone is showing it on cable TV. So what am I paying for?

The library is the answer. So I feel zero shame in watching events the next day at my leisure (and able to fast forward... super necessary).

Anyone remember when Rogan used to spout pro piracy comments live on the ppvs?

Really? I'm also Canadian and didn't know that. Because I don't even use Fight Pass. I just consider it my contribution to the sport. I'm on the East Coast. No way I'm staying up late enough to watch these events. I can't even get through Hockey Night in Canada anymore.

I wonder if UFC would be more profitable if they had a streaming service that showed all of their events for a monthly/annual fee. People have no problem paying for Spotify or Netflix because the prices are reasonable.

All companies that deal with intellectual property know that some level of piracy is to be expected. It’s the amount that matters.
If it costs more to pursue pirates than the estimated business they are losing, they won’t bother doing anything about it. If the amount of piracy is costing them more in lost revenue than going after the pirates, expect a crackdown.

That being said, there is no way of determining exactly how much piracy there is. It’s all a rough estimate. That’s why it is unwise to brag about piracy. I see tons of people on here and in other places, including on Dana’s social media channels openly talking about illegal streaming. This just brings it to the attention of the UFC. The more chatter, the more piracy they estimate there is. It reaches a certain level and they start to crackdown.

Many of you probably think they can’t come after you. Depending on where you live, that may or may not be true. A new law makes it a felony to illegally stream large amounts of content i.e. host streams. This means they can go after the host and threaten them with a felony unless they give up all the IPs of the people streaming from them. The people that watched the stream can’t be charged under the same law but they can be sued like the UFC has done before https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2014/2/11/5402548/ufc-won-steaming-lawsuit-individual

Of course many use VPNs and that might make it hard to track those people down. But after the UFC takes down a few hosts and pursue legal action, how many will want to host a stream after that?

Basically what I am saying is that you should treat streaming like fight club, and no I don’t mean you should go into a dark basement and beat the shit out of each other.

Yeah man. Nick is one of mine and my long time friends favorites.
I’m just too old or something. I like watching fights by myself and I have for a while.
The price tag is very steep for today’s ppvs.

Like 20 +years ago. I used to make money on PPv. It was always at my house. I charged $5 and bring your own beer and drugs or just barter with me and that’s good enough. and that was fun.

but now I’m just an old chunk of coal.
