Dan Hooker wants to fight Nate Diaz, continues to duck actual contenders

He seems like a good guy in interviews but it's annoying that he always wants to fight up in the ranks (or higher profile fights, Chandler was a unique situation) no matter if he's losing multiple fights back to back. He should be fighting down in the rankings vs someone like Makhachev, Gillespie or Tsarukyan at this point.
He offered Islam a fight (for 263) but he refused.

No. Islam vs Hooker or Tony vs Hooker.

Islam needs a winning contender. Beating Hooker leaves him still looking for a ranked person to springboard towards title shot. Hooker hasn't looked good of late and beating hooker doesn't mean that much in terms of the title shot he wants.

You dont "duck" contenders when you're 0-2 in your last two fights man.... he needs a tune up and Nate is no gimme

I don't blame hooker, this is clearly a big money big and there no other possible fights for him currently has his stock is the lowest it has been for a long while.

That's an empty offer just like Adesanya offering Whittaker to fight 2 months after a full fight camp. Ramadan just ended in mid-May, Hooker knew Makhachev couldn't have fought that soon.

Why should Hooker have to cater to Islam's schedule? The world doesn't revolve around him. Where's the whole "send me location," attitude these Dagestani fighters speak of? Also, you have a champion in Usman who is defending his title two months after his previous defence, if Islam really wanted it, he could have fought. No wonder Khamzat parted ways with the Dagestani fighters.

For Hooker's sake it's good that he's not calling out contenders, he's not on their level.

At the end of the day it's a weak move to offer to fight any opponent when you clearly know their training camp would be compromised, that all there is to it.

True, but I just don't think Hooker deserved to be called a duck.

ffs, how stupid is this forum today

WW? hes a LW. He used to fight at FW ffs.

Just because somebody fights at something doesn't mean that's what they are :/

Fighters choose their division, a lot of time intentionally going lower than they naturally are - just like Conor did, and his huge reach advantage was a big factor on why he was able to dominate FWs so easily.

6 foot and 76 inch reach and he has to cut a lot to get there. That's not a LW.

Man just fought and lost two Chandler and Poirier. Hooker probably just looking for a tune-up

This! Not hard to understand. Chris Weidman is a great recent example of how failing to take a step down in competition can kill your career. Up until the Omari fight he fought killer after killer.
