Nah man you put on my pick for fight of the year.

He fought the best fight he could have IMO.

Dustin beats him 8/10 times I think.

Dustin is a tough match up for anybody not named Khabib.

It was the best performance of his career.

I don't think his bladder was fully recovered from the Barboza fight.

    Any cliffs?

I thought he fought well until he gassed. I thought most everyone agreed with me.

And though I didn't give him 3, I even thought it was arguable that he maybe, possibly, won the first 3 rounds (in this day and age of not knowing what the fuck judges are thinking half the time).

I think he fought pretty good, Dustin didn't come out unscathed and Hooker had him almost finished at i think the end of round 1 or 2.

That being said, Hooker would benefit greatly from improving his striking defense.
Offensively i rate him pretty highly on the feet and i think he's quite well-rounded in general.

He pushed Poirier to the brink. I think Hooker blew his wad a bit going for a finish at the end of the 2nd? Round. That fight made me feel a bit like the first time I ever watched MMA. It was brutal. Visceral.

If Dan had 10 more seconds at the end of round 2, he would have won. Dustin was close to collapsing from the barrage.

Hooker shouldn't be too hard on himself, he gained so many new fans from that WAR.

Terrible game plan for sure, instead of using his height and reach, he chose to stand and bang.

I don't know if it was deliberate choice or he just lacks foot work, regardless it’s always a terrible idea/strategy to give up an advantage.

On paper, Hooker's first round KO over burns is his best performance. (Though burns did hurt hooker at the start of the fight.)

He probably beats Dustin if he didn't empty out the tank in the second round to try to get a finish at least that's what I think he's thinking.

If Hooker got the decision I don't think many people would've been complaining about the decision.

Poirier is a glorified brawler, nothing more.

Only in hindsight. At the time Burns was on a 2 fight streak with 2 losses in his previous 5. He hadn't found his home at WW yet.

All this stuff is just opinion and it was an impressive performance that looks much better in todays light, but I think giving the #2 lightweight 5 rounds of absolute hell is a bigger accomplishment.

The spamming of takedowns in the second half of the fight wasn’t pretty. Hooker lacks gas and isn’t hard to hit.

Imagine if he fought well? Dustin would have been taken out early and today we would get Dustin vs chandler and Connor vs A Hooker (again)
