Dan Henderson's weighing 196.6lbs

MMA drills don't cut it. You need to maintain a threshold pace to improve your Vo2max to decent levels.

Any fighter just doing drills will be run into the ground by a properly conditioned fighter within a round. I did rowing aswell growing up & the training basically mimics 800m running training in terms of the durations & types of energy systems worked.

Boxers always did the right thing by running & still do. It's a staple of Floyd's training. Nothing on earth is as good as running for cardio conditioning - It's isn't jogging. It's 1km reps, intervals, threshold runs over 20min etc.

Is the five and a half minutes of explosion (with resistance) the rowers perform that similar to less than 2 minutes of fast running that is the 800? Haven't down track so can't say. GSP apparently only performed HIT cardio by the end, seemed to work well for him.

The issue in MMA is insuring you are strong enough for your endurance to matter. Strength (and maximising it) seems to be far more important than endurance training, although the fact the sport has weight classes should of made that obvious to being with. Diaz and condit likely had way better endurance than GSP and Hendricks, they just lacked the strength.

He must be extremely light for this fight as they say the camera adds 10 lbs.

He's damn near 200 pounds and still looks skinny as fuck...

This guy has been fighting forever and people still don't know the most basic shit about the man... I don't get it.

They did studies on it years ago. Due to to lack of impact, the slightly longer duration ends up creating lactic acid peaks similar to the 800m & has a similar ratio of anaerobic to aerobic components. I noticed the lighter rowers (Typically the one's who were a bit too light for rowing actually did quite well on the track.

Lennox Lewis only did circuit work for his cardio, but it's a big minority. Typically it's due to existing injuries. A guy like Diaz & Condit would actually be far more formidable without such significant weight cutting in the sport.

When you have 15-20lb between divisions, a strong gas tank can sometimes leave you significantly weaker in a given weight class & despite a cardio advantage you may end up being the only one having to utilise significant energy.

GSP v Diaz is a good example. Huge strength gap.

Nice vids

Seriously, MMA is the sport that has the best videos outside of official events IMO.

He used to weigh in around 195 in Pride, then he got on TRT and started weighing in at 205lbs.

What's crazy is he doesn't even look that heavy.

Always looks like he weighs about 170 at most......so when he ends up stepping on the scales and weighing 205 my head explodes.

Must be that Hen-dong.

Yeah, Henderson looks lean and athletic but not overly muscular. That was pretty funny with the chicken.

Funny thing was he was saying something like, "Well, it's after a workout," implying he's actually heavier. Sure he is, but not much.

War Hendo: anyone, any weight
