Dan Hardy on JDS vs Rothwell "I think Ben Rothwell is slightly ahead"

I always love this myth that JDS has great boxing. He doesnt. At best hes a decent offensive boxer, at worst hes just a good puncher. The guy has zero defensive boxing skills and thats half of boxing.
 
I love Hardy's comments, he's a very reasonable guy who doesn't strike me as an attention whore. Respect.

JDS has looked horrible lately but Rothwell is terribly out of shape.
IF JDS chooses to exchange with Rothwell he'll come out on top IMO.

Agree, never liked him much as a fighter, but seems like a good knowledgeable guy and makes a lot of sense when he talks. He's a nice change from Rogan's hyperbole.
 
So hard to call - like others point out, JDS has taken significant proportions of physical punishment, repeatedly (decent amount in his interval wins of Stipe & Hunt as well for 5 straight fights). I love JDS for his heart and entertainment value but I'm not sure he'll ever be the same. That being said, Rothwell looked rather sluggish in his last fight as did Barnett. Have to admire Rothwell too for the same reason.

Imo: If Rothwell hurts JDS early, he wins the fight. If JDS can keep the distance and not engage in the clinch much, wear Rothwell down with a steady pace and not try to KO him, he can win. Just hope its entertaining lol (how can it not be? its probably not going to decision)
 
Slightly ahead? wrong for the 1000th time Hardy. Rothwell is light years ahead at this stage, you will see, JDS is just gonna be a punching bag tomorrow. Rothwell will beat him badly and finish him

jk. saw your av and had to say it. Agree - It's nice to have/hear a different perspective once in a while and him and his partner(s) do a fine job analyzing the fights when the UFC goes to the UK. they've never substituted for anyone on US soil have they?
 
While Rothwell has been on a nice streak of late, I still can't see him making past JDS and for some reason when I see the name "Ben Rothwell" I think of Affliction.

This fight is essentially that fight again - Can he make it to the next level? Is JDS a shadow of his former self? I guess we will se tomorrow.

lol hopefully not. I don't care if he wins I just want an entertaining fight to last at least more than 1 round

Has there ever been a fighter climb to the top that is unskilled as Rothwell?

Power and Chin can really take a fighter far in the HW division.
