Haven't watched it in a long time until now. Just listening to Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg commenting adds a lot to and brings back the whole magnitude of the situation. The way Joe nonchalant talk about her boxing and how he isn't surprised she didn't touch gloves as if she's so good and bad ass. The fights starts and they talk about how good Ronda's boxing has become as she blitzes Holly and lands 2/4 shots (keep in mind this is coming off of a devastating KO of Bethe.) Then as the fight continues her holes slowly show as Holly is ducking blitzes and countering. Joe Rogan seems a little impress stating that Holly is countering and doing better then most.
Fast forward to the end of the round you can tell Rogan knows this is going to end bad for Rousey. The round ends and Tarverdyan tells Ronda how well her striking has been that round. A calm Greg Jackson states what happened, realizing Rondas huge disadvantage and predicts the future of Ronda's approach to the coming round. The second round starts and Ronda is beat and Holly is looking fresh. Goldberg not being the most analytical states that Rousey's noticeable exhaustion from her sloppy frustrated striking is "the penalty of being a rockstar" and Joe shoots back that she's not fighting like one. Rousey still fights slowly and sloppy like a bat out of hell and gets KO'd after a beautiful push into Holly's head kick.
Holly is filmed verging on tears stomping her stride as she circles the octagon as if she said, "I told you so" and finishes with a concerned kneel in front of the dethroned champ, giving sympathy in her victory as she looks onto a broken Rousey being held in the arms of Tarverdyan rubbing her arm as if he knows deeply that this is his fault.
I didn't realize how beautiful this whole fight was as a story and how it paved the way to women's MMA. I can't wait to see Holm vs Cyborg this coming week. Holly Holm can be cemented in the most revolutionary women's MMA fighter in history as well as the most inspirational because time and time again she is one of the few people to believe she's good enough.
