In your opinion, are there going to be Dagestani's (and other ethnic groups in the region) who will become better than Khabib? Right now we have a handful of Dagestani's ranked in the UFC who are surging much faster than Khabib on his come up. There is a possibility that if any of them reach the title soon, they might hold it longer than Khabib and with more title defenses. Khabib's time at the top was incredibly short lived, only two years, if his countrymen are just as skilled and tenacious as him, I can very well see champions who end up being more accomplished than Khabib.

I dont see anyone right now that I think will eclipse Khabib, but two of them are very close to title shots, that being Ankalaev and Mackachev.

Zabit could get one if he just stayed active.

Khabib is one of a kind specialist, his grappling skills are world class, he's got everything, Wrestling, BJJ, Judo, Sambo.. but unlike other elite grapplers, he had a granite chin, relentless pressure, limitless cardio, and high fight IQ. There was no one coming close in the entire UFC roster, even his most rabid haters realize that deep inside.

You can say these things about other fighters that dominated their weight-classes, but they actually defended their belts more than three times. It was short and sweet which gives the perception he was unbeatable. Unfortunately, there was far too much left on the table to make the claim there's no one coming close in the entire roster.

I agree with the small amount of title defenses, but when he retired he had the division cleared.

Not really. He beat Justin, Dustin, and Conor who really didn't deserve anything. That's not clearing out a division and Oliveira for instance was on a 7-fight win streak. They also couldn't make the fight everyone wanted to see for about five years for various reasons.

Askarov is very close to a title shot too

This argument is getting so fucking old. Khabib would’ve wrecked Oliveira like he did the rest of them and deep down everybody knows.

It’s ok. We all would’ve liked to seen him continue. Some to see him win, some to see him maybe eventually lose like the legion of closeted Conor nuthuggers. I get it. Greatest LW of all time and higher on the GOAT list than Jones or Silva due to them being PED cheats.

there is no discussion

There's actually quite a discussion my angry friend. You can't just say he would've won. I understand you might be new to MMA but there are plenty of massive upsets that should tell you to sit down and be quiet.

He didn't do enough and there were still many people to fight. No discussion son.

I’m not even mad, I can’t change delusional people’s minds.

what I can do is say he would’ve won though. Quite easily.

You sound pretty worked up bud.

Anything can come out of your mouth. It's still wrong though.

"Short and sweet" lol
Khabib has more wins than GSP had FIGHTS.

Too bad he didn't get a title shot in his third UFC fight too, we would've missed out on him defending his title against the Dan Hardys of the world.

Since over 10 years we hear stories about all those crazy russian/dagestani/chechen fighters which the world hides from us because otherwise they would conquer the whole mma world and since 10 years their best champs from their best orgs/leagues come over to the west and nobody of them conquered anything... they managed to have exactly one champ in the ufc and, despite being represented with multiple fighters in every category of PFL, only a hand full of PFL champs...

i think we can stop lying about this non existing phenomenas and agree that the only reason why we dont have more of them in the UFC is not an imaginary quota on russian fighters but the fact that most of those guys had issues with the law and therefore dont get visa for the US, Canada and the West in general!

Difficult to say if anyone will be able to eclipse someone like Khabib but Islam, Askarov, Ankalaev and Rustam Kerimov are probably the outstanding Dagis right now.

For up and comers keep an eye out for Renat Khavalov and Adam Masaev, I rate both of those guys as extremely elite prospects.

The Russian quota exists, it isn't imaginary.

That's a stupid argument.

Jose Aldo has more wins than Khabib has fights.

GSP's UFC win streak was as long as Khabib's entire UFC career. He also won a second belt while Khabib put himself in the hospital.

Don't play with fire son.

Islam could be considered a better fighter than Khabib easily.

GSP is clearly a better fighter than Khabib. After everything said and done, Usman might be also considered a better fighter, none of whom are undefeated.

Also, Khabib should have clearly lost to Tibau anyways.

Khabib in his entire UFC career never fought someone half as good as Dariush and Oliveira as well, so there's that.

As good as Khabib has been, I think that he ran before he lost. I don't have him in top 10 greatest.

If Islam beats Dariush, then Oliveira, then defends many times, then he should be considered a better fighter than Khabib,

Usman has already eclipsed Khabib imho. There's really no argument to having Khabib over Usman after what Usman has accomplished.

I love Benny but I don't see how you can say prime RDA isn't half as good as him.

Then you cant say his wins dont mean anything either.

If there's no discussion,no reason to reply. ;)
