that's crazy. If Dada wants to get serious about fighting he needs to go train with professionals that will not only help him cut weight responsibly, but actually teach him how to fight.
As embarassing and grueling of a fight as that was, I hope he's alright. I can't believe how much each man's stock took a hit. Any word on what the odds were for over under on a round or going to round 3? Not sure but very few people expected that to last long and when on the ground neither of them really went for it.
Thank God he's ok. Would have been really sad to see that end even worse. Hope he gets better.
Bellator would have been done.
It was -500 to go under 1.5 rounds, +380 to go over. Not sure about starting round 3.
This thread was already made and wastelanded, not sure why. I will say this though, if it is indeed true this happened, we should consider boycotting Bellator for putting on this exploitative fight. I'm not trying to be funny, I'm dead serious.
People are going to come and say "he's a fighter, it's not on the promotion, blah blah blah". Here's the thing: the sketchy part is this event was in Texas, where the commission allows basically anything. I doubt they went out of their way to medically clear the fighters.
Had it been another state like California, or Nevada, these fights would never been sanctioned.
Bellator brass KNOWS this. Which is why they had the event in Texas, which basically goes to show you that fighter safety is not their concern.
What a coincidence, I wanted to die after watching that fight to.
Because it was crammed full of fighter bashing, jokes about wanting to die, and other nonsense. And also, the whole "heart stopped" bit is still based on rumor, the family only stated that he had to go to the hospital for dehydration and suffered renal (kidney, for those unsure) failure. They didn't say anything about his heart stopping or critical condition. They said he was "recovering nicely", which is a far cry from critical condition.
Makes sense, thanks.
He looked in really bad shape when they carried him out of the cage, there were a few times during the fight where I thought Big John might just call it because neither guy could really stand without assistance. Glad he is ok though, I'm sure Bellator is too since they would have been done if DaDa died.
The fact that he didn't collapse before the fight finished is shocking.
265 is a joke. Only professional fighters from here on out Coker, fkn got it?
bellator almost killed dada
The fact that the commision let that turd fight and Royce not wrap his hands is hilarious.
Professional athletes have a hard time losing/cutting 30+ pounds, let alone someone who is fat, out of shape and looking for a pay check.
Bellator's freak fights and geriatric leagues are the only thing holding it back from being "professional MMA", but thats the only thing that is bringing them the numbers. This is how Coker operates though, so as long as you care about freak show > quality, Bellator will always be bringing in some money.
Dehydration sent him into A-Fib which then sent him into VFib... he's fucking lucky.
They need to stop with the ratings grabs and "legends" fights. Guys over 50 with huge amounts of wear should not be fighting. Gracie and Miletech fighting should be the limit since both are 49 and still in relatively good shape, but guys like Ken shouldn't be doing the MMA game anymore.
Inexperienced fighters and older fighters are going to cause Bellator to eventually kill someone.
Bellator need to stop with this kind of fights
great comission allowing these guys to compete
Even his heart was bored of that fight...... Too soon?
That's crazy, hope the guys ok.
