"I had surgery yesterday," Santos told MMA Fighting on Thursday. "It lasted seven hours, and the hospital will give Bellator a full report later today.

Prior to the surgery, Santos (21-18) told MMA Fighting that he was planning on fighting 10 more times before retiring. A day after the procedure, "Cyborg" has yet to know when he will be cleared to train again.

"They didn’t tell me anything about timetable for recovery yet," he said. "I’ll be released from hospital today, and then they will tell me how long it will take. But it will be fast. I’ll be back soon."

"Cyborg" returned from retirement in the beginning of the year, defeating Artenas Yuogn via decision at Legacy FC 50. He signed with Bellator MMA and made his promotional debut three months later, beating Brennan Ward via first-round submission. Santos returned to action twice in the next three months, losing to Saad Awad and Michael Page.

Ok, I don't know much about anything, but I can't see how a doctor could possibly clear you to ever fight again after you've literally had your face smashed once before.

I'm glad most ppl voted for 0.

He could have died or become retarded. It's amazing one of the shards didn't pierce his brain.

Like most fighters, he's got that spirit where he's already talking about getting back out there.

I really hope he doesn't... this is way to serious. Silva breaking a leg was bad but Cybrog is now vulnerable in his skull. Doesn't matter if he has titanium there who knows it could have caused cracks elsewhere that will open up.

He needs to retire. He can make a living training but he can and likely will die if he fights again.

    Dude. Stop fighting please.

    Thanks for the wars.

Have a martini and invite Diego while you're at it.

He ought to retire, before he gets hurt even worse. He's already been KO'd more times than I've had hot dinners.

I really hope he does not fight again considering his health. He should at least start coaching and training others

Joe Rogan needs to have a talk with him.

He really shouldn't keep fighting. That's a brutal injury and I'm glad he's going to recover well. His health is more important than his fighting career.

Being 21 - 18 isnt enough to quit already? The broken skull should had sealed the deal.

I hope Bellator has learned the lesson from the Kimbo-Dada debacle, but i wouldn't bet on it.

Lucky to be alive, should be fighting his battles elsewhere from now on. That's literally the worst injury I have ever seen in MMA.
