I don't think she should get a free pass to a title shot, and Cyborg needs to prove that she not only can make the weight, but hang with the stiffer competition that 135lbs has to offer. That being said, I think that Sara McMann would kill Cyborg.
"Stiff competition that Womens BW has to offer"? You're kidding right? What has any of Ronda's opponents done to warrant a title shot so far? Swap wins and losses in a shallow division? Ronda vs Cyborg is the only fight in Women's MMA that matters at the moment.
You mean like Penn, Couture, and Edgar did? And btw Cyborg does not want the 135 title. She wants a fight with Rousey.
If she beats one or two UFC fighters first, she makes a lot more money, and draws a lot more in a fight with Rousey.
Stiffer....as in compared to 145lbs..... Cyborg hasn't really faced anyone that great other than Marloes Coehn (sp?)
Might aswell be fighting the same level of competition, the only difference being that Rouseys opponents get UFC exposure giving the illusion that they're somehow better by default. When Cupcake Tate is at the top of the divisions food chain, you know there's a lack of talent.
Many years ago I was high on Cyborg, these days I just be happy to see her fight decent competition to see where she now stands, but that will be a 135. And I imagine the conversation regarding death at 135 might surface again. She'll need to drop some of that muscle mass to make it, pure and simple. She's not in the limelight now, so she either needs to buck up or shut up. As a fan, I'd love to see it. But I'm also sick of hearing it over and over.
its already been stated via her zuffa contract that she needs to successfully weigh in at and win a 135lb fight in invicta before coming to the ufc for ronda.
Ronda's opponents have better records than Cyborgs opponents. They also have beaten many of Cyborgs opponents. That in fact makes them better competition.
BRASIL WAND owned....watch more fights. Holly Holm would out strike Cyborg, and Sara McMann would rag doll her.
