Cyborg losing patience with the UFC and its sheltered 135 division

Cyborg ducking the 135 division, let's ignore it.

Lose 10 pounds.

Boom. Problem solved.
3lbs. She was 139. she won't fight the champ so she only needs to be 136. Only a true idiot would argue she can't. She is 5lbs heavier than her previous UFC stint.

Cyborg weighed 160 lbs, confirmed when Tito called that failure of a press conference to announce Cyborg had signed with Invicta and got her to stand on a scale and proclaim she was too big to make 135 lbs. She physically couldn't cut 25 lbs without dying, she said. Something Holly does routinely, by the way as Holly walks around at 160+ lbs, confirmed by Miesha.

Cyborg then goes to Invicta to crush cans and quickly and mysteriously puts on 15 lbs of lean muscle and starts cutting 30 lbs to make 145.

She ducked Ronda at 145 lbs in 2012 by testing positive for steroids and ruining their planned fight that summer and she ducked her at 135 lbs by lying about not being able to make weight in 2013. Now she's ducking an entire division in 2016.

Cyborg is the most self-sheltered fighter in the history of any combat sport and it's apparent by now she just uses other more well known fighters to get herself noticed without having to actually do anything. Nobody is going to run a story on Cyborg unless she mentions Ronda, Miesha or Holly - the 3 most popular fighters right now.

it's nice to see an educated post based on facts.

Princess Rousey had a division made specially just for her and was awarded a belt out of thin air.

Cyborg, the best WMMA fighter fighting today, on an 11 year, 16 fight win streak (14 finishes), with more belt defences than you or I have had hot dinners, gets the cold shoulder treatment though. Even despite Rousey, Holm and Tate saying they would fight her at 140 then going back on their word like shameful cowards. Full credit to Leslie Smith for taking that fight.

The fans want to see Cyborg in the UFC, they want to see 140 superfights and those events would pack stadiums in Brazil and probably other countries too.

How long can this travesty continue? 145 division for Cyborg! And it's time for the girls who said they'd fight her to stop ducking and put their money where their mouth is.

Rousey didn't take a bunch of roids, and complain that she can't cut an additional 3 pounds to fight in the best division in WMMA. She fought at 145, and when the division was created, she cut the ten pounds like everyone else did. Give up the roid gains and quit complaining.

strange right? these people cant make up their minds.... one day i come here and people love her, then the next they want her head.

by the way bro, do you have an eternal yellow card? that things been hanging forever. or u just keep making offenses? what happened?

I said the *** (unnamed intelligence agency) did Dallas

Just to elaborate more.

Ronda and Cyborg were both asked to cut down to 135 lbs at the same time back in 2011, by the UFC/Strikeforce. The UFC had bought Strikeforce and were deciding what they wanted to keep and what they wanted to trash can. They were contemplating doing away with the 145 lb division due to lack of legitimate competition but no definite decision had been made at that time. Ronda agreed to cut down to 135 lbs because she wasn't cutting to make 145 lbs any way and Cyborg agreed the cut would be the best thing for her career and said it would be hard but she could do it. The rest is history. Ronda made the cut and became a massive success. Cyborg wasted years of her life crushing cans in a minor league organization.

If Cyborg hadn't cheated and got caught using steroids, the fight between Ronda and Cyborg that was planned for late June/early July of 2012 at 145 lbs might have resulted in the division being saved but with Ronda as the newly crowned 135 lb champion and Cyborg out for a year with an disgraceful steroid suspension, there was nothing keeping that division relevant.

UFC sheltering the 135 division from the 145 fighters. Well alrighty... isn't that sort of what divisions are supposed to do?

How can she have fans is the thing that amazes me the most.
P4P most insufferable trash talker in the game. And these PR stunts are in stark contrast with the personality she showed on Embedded: she seemed a genuinely likable person.

Yawn same old vile and unfounded abuse for Cyborg

(1) ducking a lower weight division lol preposterous on its face
(2) girls called her out at 140 then bailed and somehow that means Cyborg is ducking
(3) hasn't tested poz for 4 years yet still gets constantly accused of roiding
(4) if above point is conceded apparently roid gains are eternal so she should never be allowed to fight
(5) Cyborg is a man/tranny etc., just childish
(6) Cyborg is not legit, no she is obviously the top WMMA currently fighting, the UFC should be glad to have her and any top 135 WMMA fighter should be delighted to prove herself against her

Cyborg has nobody to blame for her limited opportunities but herself.

It was her decision to bulk up as much as 180 lbs during her Strikeforce days to fight at 145. Even back then there was no reason for her to weigh that much.

Now, 145 is pretty much dead - and has been for years - and 135 is the place where all the opportunities are. If she isn't willing to atrophy muscle to compete at 135 lbs, she needs to shut up and stop expecting everyone to appease her. People did during EliteXC and Strikeforce; people are no longer willing to play by her rules and she needs to deal with it.

This is like Cyborg once weighing 160 lbs and enjoying theme park rides that have a 160 lb weight limit. She then packs on muscle and becomes too heavy for the rides and bitches to the amusement park owners to fix the attractions to accommodate her.

wtf are you even talking about

Cyborg is a 145 fighter always has been is and always will be. She is willing to meet at 140, which is harder for her than her opponent.

Cyborg is not a lifelong martial art practitioner like Ronda or Valentina Schevchenko, she simply lacks quality fighting skills! Cyborg background is originally from handball - she is pretty much a muscled up Bethe Correia that depends on a huge strength and weight advantage to win over much smaller females.

The point is, if she wants to remain in a shallow division devoid of opportunities, don't bitch about it and expect everyone else to cave in to her demands. The rational decision in that situation would be to reduce her walking weight and go where the opportunities exist. That was the actual plan George Prajin had for Cyborg - to get to a walking weight of 155 lbs to eventually compete at bantamweight - shortly after Invicta signed her.

The problem is the UFC prematurely reached out to her and picked up her contract as well as her paycheck. If the UFC would have waited until after Cyborg reduced her walking weight to 155, she'd be in the UFC permanently right now as a bantamweight. When the UFC began paying her, she expected everyone to cater to her and set her up with fights. Well that isn't happening so she needs to either deal with her limited opportunities or do something about it regarding her walking weight.

This is what I don't like.
Many of the top fighters @ 135 said flat out that they would take the fight at 140... but only Leslie Smith steps up.
That alone is BS. Either say like Ronda "Come down to 135 and I'll fight you.", or keep your mouth shut.

Outside of that though?

1. When the only legit competition, and your key to legitimizing your career, is ten pounds away, you either cut or don't. Actions speak louder than words.
2. You're right.
3. She has earned her asterisk. Is normal.
4. Roid gains do last. They don't just leave the system like adderall or other stims.
5. Haters gonna hate. Some people think WMMA (and women in general) is all about sex appeal, not what matters.
6. Cyborg hasn't beat anyone worth mentioning to most MMA or casual fans since Gina, and has popped since submitted to legit testing. How long ago was that?

L
. Theyd rather chase a meaningless 135lb title when they should be chasing title of baddest woman on the planet which Cyborg currently holds.
It's funny that you say the 135lbs title, with the money, prestige, and fame, is worthless. But being badest women on the planet(who's afraid to drop some muscle mass so she can prove it vs half decent opponents) in the eyes of some sherdoggers isnt a worthless title.

I think she should agree to fight Ronda at 135 but come in heavy. Maybe 138 or something. I know she'd have to give up some money but the question is, if the contracts were signed would Ronda still fight her if she didn't make weight?
