While Yana might not be the best 145 or 135 she's done both and while she lost to Tonya she also had a sub win just before over her (got overturn to NC not sure why). And talked recently about 145, being a better weight for her. Looking at fight metric there's 2 top ten girls not with a major organization and undefeated Katharina Lehner 7-0 and Jozette Cotton 8-0 girls who might be more exciting than Yana, but ufc was scrambling and Yana was already a ufc property so it is what it is.
I'll attempt to shed some light on a little bit of this.
Mike England interfered with the fight between Yana Kunitskaya and Tonya Evinger*. Evinger was defending an armbar by putting her foot on Kunitskaya's face. England told Evinger to stop it, telling her she was In the wrong. He stopped the fight and made Evinger change her position that prevented her from defending Kunitskaya's new angle of attacking her arm. The athletic commission in Missouri overturned the fight due England's refereeing. They fought again and Evinger eventually defeated Kuniskaya, defending a similar armbar attempt in that fight too.
Lehner is set to fight Sarah Kaufman for the Invicta bantamweight title later this year. That fight was recently announced. The position Kunitskaya vacated recently. (Most of Kunitskaya's career in MMA has been at featherweight until this past two and a half years or so. Just pointing this out again for people who have missed that.)
Cotton hasn't actually made weight for 145lbs yet. She came in over weight in the actual title fight weigh in, vs Jennifer Leigh Norris, but they let it happen as a title fight anyways.
Cotton was set to fight Leah Letson for Dynasty but the UFC picked her up, from Invicta, to fight for them. (Letson has fought at bantamweight some too but she has been struggling to make weight and has agreed to fight up as a featherweight of late. She has called out Cyborg recently on twitter.)
Hopefully that helps a little.

Different topic:
It is never a good idea of look at photos of people weighing in to see who is the bigger fighter. They are both attempting to make weight.
For Evinger vs. Kunitskaya you can at least tell who has extra fat on them and who is totally drained looking.
There is plenty of other stuff about Kunitskaya and her weight situation in this thread and in articles dealing with CSAC ruling on her. Etc. Enough said.

I know Tonya Evinger presents herself as an out of shape trucker driver type and can be pretty sloppy at times but she does has skills and is surprisingly strong for her size. Her background is wrestling and she was at a high level back when she competed, just behind Sara McMann on the Olympic ladder.
One of their many wrestling matches from way back when.
Typically McMann won their matches but not always. Evinger went 3-1 vs Kathlee Albert too if my memory serves me. People know Albert better as Cat Zingano.
Evinger can get people down and bust them up fairly well.
If you were a WEC fan back in the day you may remember her coming out as part of Faber's crew at some old shows. They are old friends.
(Edit. Evinger can be a volatile personality and they could have had a falling out that I do not know about. Last time I knew Evinger spent time with Faber was pre TUF 18. Miesha Tate, someone Evinger has had a long running "feud" of sorts was training at TAM around that time period. - Evinger has been seeking a fight with Tate for years.)
