In my opinion it's Stephan Thompson and Israel Adesanya
Adesanya is clearly #1, he was an elite kickboxer fighting at the highest level in kickboxing while simultaneously fighting in MMA. How many UFC fighters could transition it a pure striking sport and actually do well at the elite level??
Remember when Max used to be mentioned in all of these conversations, but then he got oustruck for 7 out of 10 rounds by a guy half a foot smaller than him? Yet nobody mentions volkanovsk in these threads, so I guess I will:
1# and #2 are Adesanya and Yan, statistics back that up as well, to a good degree. After them, it's probably Sandhagen, Conor and Wonderboy. EDIT2: Added Sandhagen, statistics for him will follow in another thread.
(Amongst the best pure strikers currently active, those are the ones who on average, have the best sign. strikes landed/sign. strikes absorbed ratio)
EDIT: Sign. strike accuracy: avg. percentage of signifcant strikes which the fighter lands (feints are counted as missed strikes, to my knowledge.) Sign. strike defense: avg. percentage of significant strikes which the opponent misses Sign. strikes landed/min.: self-explanatory Sign. strikes absorbed/min.: self-explanatory Landed strike ratio: shows how much a fighter outlands his opponents (or gets outlanded) on avg. - this is basically the stat which shows how good a fighter is at "hit and don't get hit". Knockdown avg./15 min.: self-explanatory
