According to Sherdog, I would say...

Stipe Miocic.

McGregor. With all the people's feeling he's hurt on sherdog, you'd think the guy has nothing but a big mouth.

Some names here are really strange...

I guess you're thinking about accomplishments before switching to MMA, in Mark Madsen and Rodolfo Vieira? In that case it's OK, since neither has been tested in high level MMA.

But then you add de Castro and Pavlovich at HW. What makes them so underrated? Is it based only on their UFC fights or anything else?

Menifield could climb fast through a thin LHW division, I could see it happen. Can we already rate him as a top fighter though? That's the question.

Everyone loves Burgos with his crazy aggressive style, he gets all kinds of attention and most are well aware of his skills. Ryan Hall never fights, has had horribly boring fights in the past, and is annoying, so people don't always talk about him in high regard but people know how talented he is.

Brad hasn't fought enough for casuals to know him and no one talks about him to really "rate" him yet. If anything Madsen is overrated and showed he's a 2 round fighter after having nothing in the 3rd in his last fight and no striking to speak of despite being a large favorite in that fight. From a wrestling background myself i'm a big fan of his but if anything I see him being overrated.

Muslim Salikhov isn't underrated, he came with all kinds of hype, got choked out once so people chilled out but people are still high on him. Silva is good (now that actually learned how to throw a punch) but with 3 fights since 2014 I don't see how you'd expect him to have much hype.

Vettori is talked about all the time with his split decision with Adesanya. He's looked like a beast lately but is appropriately ranked and looked at imo, I don't see people sleeping on him. Vieira?! Really? I'm already seeing him vs Adesanya threads and he doesn't even know how to strike yet. Guys a f'ing monster but no ones underrating him lol.

Ankalaev is pretty badass. I'm thinking you're rating this one not on what people are saying, rankings or anything other than how many people are talking about him which seems to be to the new fans the basis on whether someone's underrated or overrated (I can't say rated appropriately cause this is sherdog so only extreme's can be spoken) but this guy isn't getting shit on or anything. I don't see anyone saying, yeah he's mediocre at best. Menifield hasn't done anything to warrant much. He beat Paul Craig who's a punching bag, and a guy that's 0-3 in the UFC for a reason. He's talented sure, but again, I don't see people underrating him.

I don't feel like doing the last one. This is not a good list at all imo, no disrespect and I appreciate you putting effort into a thread as it's rarely seen on Sherdog but I don't agree with this at all. I also don't see how you can have so many fighters with just a couple UFC fights on the list, what are we supposed to go off of?

I appreciate your input but I think you misunderstood what my list was identifying

By underrated (underranked) I'm thinking currently low ranked or unranked fighters - who could rise up the rankings and potentially be at the top of their divisions or beat some high "ranked" fighters

Similar to how Jones, Adesanya, Usman, Khabib all rose up the rankings to become champions - despite people already knowing their high skill levels/potential before they reached contendership
