I've had a couple BJJ lesons so far and I'm worried about my balls getting hit so I plan on getting a cup.

I've never worn a cup so I don't know jack shit about them. I've searched the boards and don't know what to get. I stopped by my local sports store but they didn't really have anything (only McDavid products) so I plan on ordering online. I'm assuming I need a good cup and some compression shorts, and maybe even a jockstrap in addition?? I want it to be comfortable first of all.

I've heard this Shockdoctor "BasiX Compression Short with Protective Flex Cup" is good:

I've also heard this UA jock strap is good:

And does anybody know if this is a good compression short?

I can either go the Shockdoctor route or the UA jock strap + UA short + what cup should I wear with it? I've heard "XO" but I don't know where to buy it?

BTW is wearing this all fine for warm-ups, when we are jumping around and jogging etc?

Also should I buy a short sleeved rash guard? Instead of going to BJJ in a t-shirt? I've only been going there 5 days... I might feel awkward coming in with one on.

I have shockdoctor compression shorts and like them alot. You can get the XO cup at your local store ( might depend on area). It is fine for jogging and warming up.

If your looking for a rashguard I would suggest XFgear. They make quality rashguards.

Hmm I don't need a jockstrap? Do you know of any good online sites where I can get an XO cup?

I'm going to buy the SD basix compression shorts w/ the flex cup. I'm assuming I don't need a jockstrap...

Anyway I'm also gonna order an XFgear rashguard. Am I making the right choices here?

I was planning on ordering them both from SSF... but the SD shorts are only in white... I'm wondering if the bros at SSF have them in black... I've nevered ordered from them... but I think Ron is the name of the guy who works there and he posts here, well bro do you have them in black?

Cheers.

He does, he mentioned it in another thread a little while back.

Thanks for the reply Mestizo. Just wondering if there is a comments option when you order it to request them in black? Or shall I e-mail Ron?

Have the shock doctor comp shorts/ jock and they work good. Buy a smaller size then what you actually wear cause I bought the size I wear and they are a little big. But good nonetheless.

Alright for pant size I am like 33-34 W so I'm gonna go with the medium I guess 30-32. I shot Ron a PM.

yea shockdoc comp shorts feel real comfortable. I did a lot of bag work, cardio, and BJJ w/gi in them yesterday and still drove home with them on and they still felt fine. Whats weird is that they felt a little uncomfortable at first and then I started moving and it disappeared. Totally forgot I was wearing it.

guy

you gotta get the shock doctor compression....buddy can put his knee right on the jock while passing and you feel nothing...especially around the outside

I measured myself with a tape measure and it's 33-35". I don't think I measured incorrectly. I also think eventually I can lose 15lbs, don't know how much smaller my wasit will get though.

I'm wondering because for the SDCC I don't know If I should get a large or medium. I'm 33-35 using a tape measure but my boxer briefs are all size medium and my pants are size 33/34 waist, shrunk and fit fine.

Why do you want to buy shock doc compression shorts and not use the shock doc cup? I have an XO cup that sits at home while I'm wearing the shock doc one.
