Morning Report: Cung Le happy to appeal drug test result after 'taking a pounding and getting called a cheater'

Oct 9 2014

With news that the UFC will give him the chance to appeal his one-year suspension after testing positive for excess levels of Human Growth Hormone (HGH), middleweight Cung Le maintains the result was due to flawed testing methods.

"I'm glad I'm able to appeal and am very confident," Le told Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times. "The facts are out there. If the right test had been done, this would have never happened."

. . .

"This is new to everyone -- to the UFC, obviously -- and I'm happy to now have the chance I deserve to appeal after taking a pounding and getting called a cheater by people who've never researched my career or taken note that it was spotless before this," said Le.

. . .

"My levels were high because I was in recovery mode," said Le. "They pull me into the drug testing room, telling me to test. I'm bleeding all over the place and they haven't started stitching me up yet. They clean me up a little ... I had three cuts on my face. The lady starts sticking me, having a hard time finding a vein. I look down, a stream of blood is flying off my arm. My urine was completely bloody because of my eye injury, I had bruised ribs ... you think the body wouldn't be under stress?"

The lab has already admitted that they applied the 12 hour fast levels to the test instead of the post-exercise levels.

Basically, the lab has already admitted they did the test wrong. If Cung doesn't win this appeal then it is being done purely for show.

The thing I don't understand is if Cung's levels are normal considering his situation, and its all a big mistake, then why doesn't this happen to other fighters?

If anyone has some insight on this, please share.

So much shit going on with this situation it's hard to keep up.

Thanks for the info.

Cung is handling this MUCH better than the average Joe. No matter what, he's a classy guy.

Cung Le hasa too much on-her to do da chi-ting. God damn shitty testing.

Enjoy your dubbs^

Oh, and way to contribute bro.

with the success rate of appeals, smart money is on no.

Cung and Bisping underwent extra testing for this fight. Also, a big issue here is that the UFC used a piece of shit lab that didn't do the proper testing. AC's generally use WADA accredited labs

My biggest worry is this is just for show. So many commissions allow appeals for fights and do nothing but give a generic answers like "we don't overturn referees decisions" like Scott Jorgenson getting headbutted and Dana white has criticized this many times yet I have a bad feeling the UFC will adopt the same mentality. Whether he juiced or not there is no doubt at this point the lab messed up and Cung shouldn't suffer for this.

I have no idea how he wouldn't win
It's like if a teacher said you got a 85% on a test and that means you failed...and then burned the test.

Cung's levels were completely normal; the d - level lab they used just doesn't understand how to interpret their own findings.

This needs to die. It stopped being funny a long time ago.

It's a pretty decent response to completely useless rumour threads like Lesnar returning etc.
This is a real Cung Le reaction thread so maybe it went to wrong use here.
