Just glancing at the studies, looks like a mildly interesting substance but nothing mind-blowing. It's very new: low n studies, animal models. As usual they're trying to patch up the consequence (apoptosis) but still don't know the cause. To clarify, researchers know a cascade of apoptosis (programmed cell death) is in cause for something like Alzheimer's, but they don't know why the cells are committing suicide and why or how the suicide message is quickly transmitted across the brain. I think the prevailing hypothesis is that debris and malformed proteins accumulate inside the neuron due to other factors (for example lack of brain irrigation from atherosclerosis), it detects that it's dysfunctional and commits suicide. So let's say you delay the neuron committing suicide, that's better, but it's still full of debris and essentially kaput (or it wouldn't have tried killing itself). Anyway, this won't be a miracle drug. It could be as impressive as, say, statins? Is anyone in awe of statins? Probably not. It's like a 'We're not even sure they work but we'll keep writing the prescriptions in case they do' sort of thing (very low absolute risk reduction).

I'm gonna start a website that declares I've cured every illness ever and made immortality a reality.

I hope you share it, TS.

I'll believe it when I see it, but would be wonderful if the cures turns out to be true.

A little different but years ago a German food firm I worked for took great interest in a Cuban health product made from sugarcane wax. I was told to obtain samples for testing schnell. Well, being an American I wasn't allowed or able to contact Cuba. I ended up turning to the internet to search for sugarcane wax. I had to close my office door for that search. Putting the phrase sugarcane wax into an internet search has other meanings on the internet where porn reins. Got my sample eventually though over to the Germans.

That health product didn't go anywhere. Seems the Cubans were trying to find a new market for their sugar cane crops using any old outlandish health claims.

How do you say “banana daiquiri” in Spanish?

In a shocking coincidence North Korea also made a cure. Theirs is also low carb
