Cub Swanson Understands He’s Being Set Up as ‘Stepping Stone’ In Gracie Matchup - POST FIGHT ADDED

Underappreciated by the fans as well. He's always been a just bleed fighter and doesnt get nearly enough love for that.
Thats fair. And I'm guilty of that as well, I'm sorry to say

Cub is a great ambassador for the sport. Very well-spoken, mild-mannered. Doesn't need a gimmick. A consummate professional.

Having said that, he probably gets subbed.

Have you ever watched him on the UFC Now show? He's really good and adds some great insights, always unbiased and just great really.

He'd be a great analyst or on one of the panels at the events after his Octagon career is done :)

UFC should do him right and give him a broadcasting gig after he's done fighting

I hope so, I'll try find some of those UFC Now clips cause he's great on there, very knowledgeable and unbiased also, he's great and I think he'd be great on broadcasting, commentary etc..

A really great interview with Cub from earlier leading up to his fight with Kron Gracie.

I'll do the cliff notes however this MMA Fighting channel forever have their interviewers really quiet so it's really hard to hear them though I'll try my best for people here.

It's a really good interview is this and he has such a fantastic attitude which I think you'll all appreciate.

1. Did the fight appeal to Cub cause of the Gracie name? - 0:00
2. The specific places where they refused to train Cub cause of the Gracie name - 1:02
3. Grappling preparation for this fight - 2:14
4. When fighting a specialist how to not be so consumed with him trying to get you down - 3:08
5. How does he feel about Kron using Cub to make a name for himself - 3:57
6. Does Cub enjoy being that position fighting these guys - 4:59
7. Where is his mental state heading into the fight after the losses - 5:40
8. How much steam does he have left as a fighter - 6:54
9. Does he see a realistic path to having a title fight - 7:43

Again, apologies if the questions written aren't exactly as they're asked, 95% of those interviewers you can barely hear give and take one or two though I think I've got the gist of it.

Enjoy :)

----------------------------

Edit: I've found another which they've uploaded from today just now and is really good also, again the interviewer is quiet but I'll try my best.

It's good how he talks about how a lot of people look up to him and he doesn't want to let them down.

1. Does it get easier or harder the cut over time - 0:00
2. Has he ever thought about moving up and avoiding the weight cut - 0:47
3. How old will his kids be when he finishes fighting - 1:22
4. What advice would you give your 20 year old self - 2:08
5. What does he mean by fun in regards to having more fun now - 2:55
6. Has the transition happened naturally - 4:21
7. Does he still have an interest in boxing - 5:12
8. Did he see Tyron Woodley call out Canello today - 6:19
9. What did he make of Kron's breathing exercise yesterday - 6:47
10. How he feels about open workouts - 7:23

----------------------------

Edit: Open Workouts

Let me ask you this - Did Cub say " they brought me in to lose to kron ? ".... and if he did , how did it come across ? I know that's a difficult question to answer and theres a reason why I'm asking ( im too lazy to hear this piece unless it's under 7-8 minutes).

It's a bit hard to transcribe it now dude, I'm on my phone but if I can do it later I will :)

They pretty much asked him the question and he said no he's fine with it, if you're not in the title picture then that's where we are kinda thing, something along those lines :)

You don't know what top dude means? It's like great guy, one of the best, that kinda thing.

Seemed like he was always underappreciated and undervalued by the UFC

I dont really agree with that. However, I definitely think he has been underappreciated by fans (gauging by the idiotic, dismissive criticism of the guy I've read here over the years). In real life, however, everyone I know who loves MMA acknowledges Cub as a very well rounded competitor and a true fighter.

I love that last part, it's good that people can recognise this :)

I really like Cub but his time's about up and I want to see Kron shake things up at FW.

Liked Cub ever since his early days in wec. He's a very athletic fighter. He moves well in the cage and can cover distance quickly. That will be key in this fight. The hype is real with Kron's bjj. Give him the opportunity to climb on Cubs back and the fights over.

Lately Cub seems like he is being overly polite though. His mannerisms are off. And those stupid looking glasses man. He better get his shit together before the fight.

Just watching the recent Unfiltered now on Fight Pass and Kron is saying the same again, how Cub's a traitor and he wants to send those gyms who refused him some t-shirts.

If anyone's got Fight Pass it's on there, it's pretty good is Unfiltered :)

Cub's always been a good guy, it's called being gracious and having respect, we know when he gets into the octagon he can switch all that off and put up a fight.

Pretty good combination is that, there's no such thing as being overly polite, truth is there should be more of that.

I'm sure you get what I mean :)
