CTRL Rook Gi review

Good review, but I would make a different gi sizing chart instead of using Meerkatsu's, especially with out permission. Copyright infringement is a big deal these days.

Yeah. The reason I don't have a chart in there yet is because I haven't had time to make my own and don't want to steal anybody else's.

But otherwise, great work! we'll have a guest review up on GiReviews.Net soon as well!

Thanks guys for your kind words about the review! please share the blog if you don't mind, oss!

@Ballistics, im not trying to violate anyones personal images, just did a google image search for bjj gi measurements and this one popped up a few times so i just plugged it in. just wanted to add a reference image to the measurements I took.

JPabon, the gi chart is mine, I created it using Illustrator, I have the original files all dated in the metadata to prove ownership, plus they were used in my reviews as follows:
TUFF gi review - April 2010
Vangaard gi review - July 2010
Tatami review - July 2010

I appreciate you may have 'found' the image on google, however one should presume all images are copyright unless proven otherwise - that's the way it is. I would appreciate you crediting me as the author of the size chart diagram and link to my blog, or remove the image.

Thanks!

Oh and BTW, you're not the only person to use my images, that's why I use this one now (read the small print) lol:

*Cough*fair use*cough*

This isn't fair use. Using someone else's work and presenting it as your own can be considered copyright infringement. Especially since meerkatsu explicitly says that his images are not to be duplicated with out his permission on his blog.

sure its an honest mistake that he'll fix. thank goodness Seymour is across the ocean from me.

come at me bro!!

It is a non-profit blog that does not take anything away from Meerkatsu financially or creatively. It qualifies as fair use. No way any court would award Meerkatsu over copyright infringement over this.

Who said anything about using courts? Hahaha, be funny though, imagine how insanely petty it would be to chase someone through the courts due to alleged copyright infringement on an advert supported (hence actually it is not non-profit) blog for a diagram of a gi that to be honest, a child could draw haha, very funny.

Anyway, he's changed it now, thanks very much! I wasn't meaning to cause a fuss, just wanted credit for my work. (damn, need to put my voodoo dolls away now).

I never said you would take him to court or anything like that... but people got all up in arms over copyright that isn't actually wrongly used ;)

Like meerkatsu said, a blog is actually not non-profit. And if you think that it wouldn't fly in court:

Create a Similarly Composed Photo in the UK, Risk Copyright Infringement

OMG gotta admit, that London photo case is ridiculous! they are both nothing alike!!

Found this very helpful, clear and concise explanation for bloggers over the 'right' to use an image found on Google:

Copyright infringement: Using images on blogs without permission | The Photo Ninja Blog

Just because you search for an image on google and it pops up, doesn't mean you have the legal right to use it. If you use images found on the internet for your website or blog, you could be guilty of copyright infringement (even if you didn't mean to infringe). Here are some tips to keep you out of hot water [...] Understand that even if you aren't being paid to write a blog or create a site, copyright laws still apply.

And this, slightly older article that is a lot more detailed:
Bloggers Beware: Debunking Nine Copyright Myths of the Online World - Updated | LLRX.com

Myth #3: It's okay to use anything as long as I'm not making any money off it.

No. The absence of a profit might affect how far a copyright holder decides to go against an infringement, but it does not determine whether the infringement exists. The question is whether you have permission for the use. If you don't have permission, you're infringing.

Ahem...think I'll need to scan through my own posts to make sure I haven't infringed on anyone's image rights. I mean, we all do it so I'm not gonna play all holier than thou.
