as expected, Croatian media is full of Cro Cop`s retirement

from an interview today

"This is a final decision, I dont owe anything to anyone and I go with a clean heart. I am not superstitious in any way but maybe this is for the best. I was supposed to fight in UFC who has an exclusive apparel contract with Reebok and I would not be allowed to fight in checkered shorts. After I did every fight in those, maybe this is for the best. God wanted it that way or some higher power.
I dont think about which win was the best or which defeat was the worst.Every defeat is hard, every victory sweet , ups and downs are part of the sport. I am happy that I ended my career with a revenge victory over Gonzaga in Krakow "

Well, thanks Reebok for that final little push over the edge.
Enjoy your retirement Mirko.

Of all the crap Reebok has done, the shorts are definitely the worst imo.

A true legend.
I don't see anyone currently in the ufc that have similar personality like Mirko,
and that's dissapointing.

When people had their own shorts they had their own personality... in any fight sport. Tysons short black trunks and black boots, Ali's everlast shorts, Anderson's black and yellow. Now it's black and white/white and black. sucks

I wonder what would happen if a fighter just went out with their usual shorts. If it was someone like Aldo, during the McGregor fight, what could they do?

Reebok retirement? First of the USADA retirements?

Or maybe he just got old and decided it was enough.

A fine if not a lawsuit

I can't wait to see Anderson without the yellow and black. So ridiculous. Reebok sounded promising at first and specifically mentioned guys could keep their trademark colors and designs. What a crock of shit.

I wish Wand would beat the fuck out of dana

Imagine of he fights Fedor at Rizin now.

Shogun them tighty whities

They wouldn't even get that far. If they saw them in regular shorts they'd hold things up until they put on the Reebok gear.

If they insisted and it was a huge PPV fight they'd blur it, fine their ass, bill them for the blurring, and then make it really hard for that person to fight again.

In other words, this is Zuffa. They wouldn't stop at doing a LOT of stuff, before and after, to punish that fighter.

Why does anyone over the age of ten care what the fighters are wearing?
