Cheers guys.

To me, it looked like you started your DL with your hips a bit high; lowering them will get a bit more leg drive into the lift.

The squat (to my inexpert eye) looked comp-legal, but might have been borderline on depth. I'll let the real powerlifters tell you if it would have been redlighted.

Thanks Stonebreaker.

Yeh I did notice that on the squats, I actually do think I'm a tad high. Just another thing I need to work on, but I do find it hard to tell when I do actually reach desired depth.

LOL no offence, but i giggled at your grunting. i dont know why but i just did.

 damnit, I knew someone would bring that up, wanted to edit the sound out but had no idea how... Yeh I know...sounds like I'm about to excrete a massive turd.

My only suggestion is to bring the pins down a couple notches. You are damn close to hitting depth...this way the bar won't bounce off of the pins if you go a little below parallel.

I actually think that your squat was fine, maybe a smidge lower but keep up the good work

I agree with Stonebreaker, you hips were a bit high on the dl and I would have liked to see you go a little deeper on the Squats. It seemed like those lifts where your 1rm or close to them and squat depth can be a bit tricky when alls you thinking is "wow this is really heavy".

As for judging depth, I go up when I feel my hams/glutes touch my calves

I would suggest pulling the cords from your mp3 player on the inside of your shirt, pull them through the collar and then put them in your ears. Having themhang outside lets them get caught on stuff

nice pr's

Thanks Stonebreaker.

if i'm doing prs i go down until my elbows touch the thighs.

good job on the pr

Start with your hips a little lower on the dead, maybe pull your shoulder blades a little closer together, on the sqaut set the pin down two notches, or better yet do them without a cage and two spotters on each WL style. Otherwise both are pretty solid.

Your form looks really good on your squat, but like said before, just go a little deeper. What's your bodyweight by the way?

*shrug* I don't see a problem with the hips being too high. It depends a little on the height and build of a person. Shorter dudes can pull with lower hips.

I agree with Lusst completely on the squat vid.

Nice PR's!

Thanks heaps guys, going to work on the stuff that has been mentioned. Squat depth shouldn't be much of a problem, unless I find that my back start to round (it used to) but I've been doing heaps of flexibility work so hopefully it'll all be good.

I will try lowering my hips a little, I actually find that the position I'm in right now feels best. I've tried lower hips before but it felt awkward as heck, but I'll play around with it next time.

mschatz, yeh I should do that...I crushed the cord on my ipod doing DB rows last time..I just dont learn:redface:

Phx, you mentioned pulling the shoulder blades together on the DL, aren't you supposed to do the opposite? Since pulling your shoulder blades together causes your arms to go up, and increases the ROM a little?

My bodyweight is 80kg or 176lb.

Thanks again to everyone.

impressive poundage considering your weight, especially the squat. keep up the good work!

Thanks guys. I've been working out for about a year (although I did have a few months where I nearly stopped lifting completely), but only squatting for half a year. I'm hoping to get a 180kg DL and 140kg squat by the end of the year.

Pretty good overall.

Drop your hips a little lower on the deadlift to get more speed out of the hole. It'll help the lift.

Squat was high. Needs to be 4+ inches lower to be IPF legal. Good form other than that.

Thanks NerdKing, going to record the lifts again next workout and see how it goes.

I thought the same thing on the squat. My only critique would be to lower the pins like Lusst said.

As far as the deadlift goes, you did a damn good job controlling it on the way down after you struggled with it like that on the way up. Cheers to that. Looking good bud.
