I'm pretty new to the eating healthy lifestyle, but I was just wondering if you guys can add or point out some flaws to my eating plan. 6:00 am: 6 eggs everyday and a piece of fruit. 9:00 am: a snack usually yogurt and or some almonds (this feeding is usually small cause I have very little time to eat at work) 12:00 pm: chicken breast on top of a bed of spinach with mushrooms or peppers. Piece of fruit. 3:00 pm: Snack usually baby carrots 5:00-6:30 pm Depending on the day I'm either in the gym or I'm at my mma gym 7:00 pm: dinner usually either red meat or chicken, some sort of veggie, and brown rice 10:00 pm: snack before bed varies but usually cottage cheese or yogurt I drink 1-2 gallons of water daily and I take six capsules of fish oil morning, noon, and night (FYI: fish oil is 850 mg and has a EPA/DHA ratio of 240/200mg) If it matters I'm 5'8" 190. I'm looking to drop about 20 pounds so I can cut weight to 155 when in competition. I'd like to add some more muscle also. I don't take any supplements besides the fish oil which I don't consider one. Ok guys let me know what I should +/-. Should I add any supps.? If so which ones would help with my goals? Thanks in advance for any advice/comments
If the dinner is PWO then the carbs in it are fine. Seems really good just up the veggie intake by about 30-50 grams of carbs throughout the day.
Everything looks good, be mindful of the fruit you eat, though. That is a lot of fruit and usually sugary fruits aren't that great for cutting.
Should I cut out some fruit and add those extra veggies that Sonnabend suggested? What fruit is too sugary? I usually stick to apples, bananas, blueberry, and plums.
Apples and blueberrys will be real good, You don't have to cut them out, you could even add more. I believe the main two fruits to stay away from are bananas and pineapples. Veggies like broccoli and spinach you can basically gorge on. Personally, I don't eat them. I still highly reccomend them, though. Call me a hypocrite, I guess. nutritiondata.com is awesome, check it out for all the info you need on fruits and such. If a single fruit has more than 20-30g of sugar you should probably look for an alternative solution.
