Generally the "just worrying about the quality of the food" thing is geared toward people over eating. In this case I think you might find it helpful as it'll reassure you that you aren't going to blow up if you eat a steak. Let to my own devices I do the same thing as you and over cut calories. because with all the green veggies and what not I feel full so i don't realize how low I am until my energy is zapped.
