Fight was stopped with no time left (technically 2 seconds left in the fight) and Meldric wasn’t even out he was back to his feet nodding to continue. Also he was up on the scorecards. The referee robbed Meldric of the world title that he deserved.

Even if he'd gotten the Chavez fight it would have still taken the same out of him unless just the fact of the L itself did as much as the punishment.
