International Crimes of the US military "must be investigated" says China

To be fair, it should. American citizens should be the most interested party, though.

I didn't realize chutzpah was a Chinese word.

Lmao the US should be like sure well do one of those Covid origin investigations like you guys did.

Didn't take long Biden long to end America's status as a superpower. At least that's one accomplishment he can lay claim to!

at the end of the day it comes down to which monkey has the biggest stick to club the others with.

Or the US can conduct a full investigation and hold those responsible accountable for their actions. We can start with manslaughter regarding the August 29th drone killing of the family.

Then, the US can publicly announce to China "Okay, we did what was right. Now it's your turn."

Father of 2 yr old killed wants to see repurcussions.

I suppose if we don't enforce any repurcussions for these kinds of actions you cant blame them for wanting to find a way to impose some themselves.

Same goes for our crimes in Korea, Vietnam and elsewhere.

China is right. Someone should be held accountable for a strike killing 7 children, an aid worker, and 0 terrorists. And not just court marshalling some schmuck ordered to press a button either. Coming on the heels of the airport attack, there would have been a lot of eyes on them. An investigation should be conducted, and we should know who it was that cleared the strike, and they should answer for it.

China is right but unfortunately for them we are still THE superpower! We make all accountability rules !

The problem with doing this, is according to international law, the entire chain of command is supposed to be held responsible for any war crimes committed by individual soldiers. These were the grounds on which all the commanders from the Yugoslavian war were convicted, regardless of whether they ordered the crimes or even knew about them. If that was applied to the west, we'd have to try all US Presidents and the Queen of England.

I remember seeing that video. Can't really imagine any US politicians having the fortitude to go out with similar verve, if convicted of a war crime.

Wow, I forgot this happened...

<Huh2>

There is no international law when you have veto power at UN. It's anarchy for 5 and one of the main criticisms of UN. Russia can level Grozny with civilians in it, China can run concentration camps, and USA can drone weddings, hospitals, and SVEs seeking assylum.

You'd have to indict nearly everyone who was over there. There is literally thousands of incidents like this if you followed this war closely for 20 years. A lot of times it was some Warlord who did the targeting for us who wanted to take out an old enemy or competition so there is some plauable deniability. But often enough it was "oh look fighting aged males with what appears to be weapons" which turned out those weapons were shovels and they were working harvest.

And all of the other drone strikes that have killed civilians over the years?
