Guys like Chuck used to be able to take a shot. After so many fights and taking so many shots the wind blows now and Chuck gets KO'd. Giving the credit to a certain fighter who started that decline is all it means.

I think it has something to do with permanent brain swelling and inflamed neurons (aka neuroinflammation)

It means when a fighter gets knocked out they're never the same again. A lot of fighters go from having an iron chin to getting rocked easily after that 1 ko. Look at Anderson Silva for example, prior to his Weidman KO no one could even rock AS in a fight.

After that KO loss, he is easily rocked now by any clean punch. Dana once talked about how Chuck went from a chin that could take a bat to the face to getting easily KO'd...I once made a thread about this and the science behind it is once your ear drum pops it easily pops again in a fight and getting rocked becomes much easier at that point.

Could be more to it than that though

Just excuses Chuck fans make for getting KTFO when he was never that good. He started fighting good fighters and got KTFO. Wand has a legit case of cracked chin post CroCop and Dan. Chuck got KTFO by superior fighters that would have KHTFO @ any stage of his career. Jardine is proof his chin wasn't "cracked". Nog is another good example of cracked chin.

Wait a second you were just trying to tell me in the other thread that Mendes fighting again 5 months after he fought Conor wasn't relevant to the state of his chin. And I thought to myself "wow, this guy must not know shit about human biology."

I did...unless I'm forgetting something I do recall in the second fight Silva got stopped in his tracks but I dont recall Silva ever getting getting knocked down or seriously hurt from a punch.

In the Bisping fight, almost everything Michael landed on him made him drop.

The ability to sustain punches is no longer there, your chin gets softened up as you accumulate more shots to the head/chin during your fight career.

IMO and I hate even thinking about this, but I think Mcgregor might have cracked Chad's chin. He got brutally KO'd first Aldo fight, and Aldo dropped him with the after the bell combo, then got stole on by Mcgregor after cutting a shitload of weight in a short period of time. Then he gets KO'd by pillow fisted Edgar.
