He’s right, cerrone is a very good fighter but he’s fringe top 10 in either LW or WW, virtually no chance of getting a TS. Journeyman doesn’t mean bum.

He's a gatekeeper. Always hanging around the top, can't win a big fight

    Donald is a quality gatekeeper

He's dangerous for anyone but the top guys can beat him if they don't make mistakes

I think it's a fair enough statement from Fury, he openly admits to not knowing or being familiar with MMA records. But relates this to a 'fight record' as best he can.

There is sound logic there, if you've lost 13 times it stands to prove that the fighter is obviously beatable as it's been done. However as many seasoned MMA fans know, it's more about the context of the fights themselves, who they fought, how they lost etc. Split Dec or Close U/D.

As others have stated above, Cowboy is a game opponent and is of top 10 quality. A gatekeeper is a fairer assment to someone more familiar to the sport of MMA.

Cerrone is a crowd pleaser and fan favorite, never won the big fights and is inconsistent but you can't dismiss him as just another journeyman fighter, Fury is basing his theory purely on Cerrone's losing record ("A man who has lost 13 times is classed as a bum really" -Fury) but the Boxing legend readily admits he doesn't really know or follow the sport much, but if he would he would notice and recognize 99% of the fighters that Cerrone has lost to (no bums in there whatsoever)

If you think about it... Conor is a journeryman as well. Sure he won a belt here, and a belt there, but he NEVER defended them.

He is, a journey man who’s had a 3 fight win streak. Still a journeyman, he’ll revert to type when he next fights an elite!
