Let's take a minute to appreciate how wild it is that in December 2019, Alistair Overeem is headlining a UFC card.

63 professional MMA fights (2nd most on UFC roster)
    23 KO/TKO's
    17 submissions
Strikeforce HW champion, DREAM HW champion, K-1 Grand Prix champion. Held all 3 belts at the same time
Victories over legends like Vitor Belfort, Igor Vovchanchyn, Mark Hunt, Gary Goodridge, Fabricio Werdum, Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir, Junior Dos Santos, Andrei Arlovski
    KO'd 13 times, never deterred
Has fought at least two MMA fights in every single year since 1999, other than 2012 (due to legal issues)
    Eats horse meat

It's 2019, over 20 years after this man's MMA debut, and we still get to watch him take on a killer in a UFC main event.

    All hail, Alistair Overeem.

It ain't easy beeing an Overeem fan, knowing he could very well beat everyone he fights, at the same time realising he can be knocked out in the next three seconds.
Truly a legend of the sport, can't remember an Overeem fight I wasn't excited about.

I'm on the horsemeat now and I can see how he looked so happy and confident at that time. I still look like shit, but a veiny shit at least.

Always enjoy watching him. It's amazing he is still going strong after so many devastating losses. I see literally nobody ever doing what he did at the highest level for 20+ years. Most ware washed up after 5 or 10 years.

We will never see another Ubereem for at least 2000 years, before him we had the legendary Theagenes of Thasos who was said to be a decendant of Hercules himself.

allistar overeem is an insane super human to me. I remember back in the pride days thinking hes a genetic freak built for fighting but that he was starting to fall off and that would be the end of it. Now we are here in 2019. His career has been so extensive against top competition. so many ko's on the giving and receiving end. across multiple combat sports. Not to mention how many knock outs hes probably had in training. yet he made it up until a few years ago with out any major injuries and then all he needed was some bone fragments removed from his elbow.
his body and brain are meant for punishment and he still has the drive to shoot for the title. He definitely had a super steroid abuse run but at those times he was in orgs where he was getting away with it meaning his opponents could have been on whatever as well he also went up a weight class so I don't really hold it against him. he comes from a place of training where its normal to hard spar and ko each other. Been doing it since a kid basically. Most human would be a pile of blood and broken bones by now with no brain tissue left. to me like many of the pride guys he is a realy life video game character ina fantasy fighting game.
