Counter to Half Guard crossface

    I get asked how to deal with this all the time. And while theyre are things you can do once you are crossfaced it is much easier to avoid the punch before it hits your jaw then to undo it after it makes contact.

    that's what you call x-hands

    it works as a crossface defense from most bottom positions

    Wouldn't it make more sense to underhook his arm to move it to your side? Especially if your'e talking about punching, there's no gi to grip in an mma scenario.

    If i'm working a more traditional half guard (which i've been playing with), the double paw grip seems to do a sufficient job of preventing the crossface. Normally if you're tight with your paw grip and underhook then it shouldn't be a problem; you always want to be on the attack, not defending
